Scared

I went to an emergency room yesterday because I'm pregnant and spotting.  Due to my Lmp I should be 8 weeks but the u/s shows a 5mm sac with no fetal pole.  The physician said I may be only 5 months or I may be having a miscarriage.  I'm so worried.  Hcg levels are normal but I have to wait 48-72 hrs so they can check my Hcg levels again.  Is it possible that my LMP estimated date is different from my actual date.

I went to my Obgyn yesterday.  He said my cervix was closed so that's a good sign.  He also said my hcg level match the scan, so looks good.  I have to do bloodwork today to check my levels.  I left feeling confident.  When I got home I started cramping unbearable pain.  I threw up and had a BM, but I passed no clots.  Now i am freaking out because I hate the thought of loosing my 1st baby.

If you ovulated ~3 weeks after the "standard" ovulation date (most doctors assume a women ovulates 2 weeks after her period)  then this could account for the discrepancy.e.g. you would have had to have ovulated 5 weeks after your last period.

When did you find out your were pregnant?

Spotting during pregnancy is not normal though and is a little concerning.  50% of the time when this  happens, a miscarriage occurs.

My last period started on July 27. I took test after test until I finally got a positive in October. At my first ob appointment on October 21 I should have been 12 weeks due to my lmp, but my ultrasound placed me at 7 weeks pregnant. So it's definitely possible to have dates that don't match.
