First Look

Hello all!  Just wanted to share my good news.  I'm 12 weeks and I had my first look ultrasound yesterday.  My measurements where 1.0!  Whoo Hoo!  For those that don't know the measurements ... anything lower then a 3 is ok and the lower the measurement, the lower your risk.  Now waiting for blood work to get my complete risk analysis.

waitn838 ... Not sure what the NT scan is???

I will describe more about the first look.  I assumed everyone in this forum would have been given info. about this test because of their age, but maybe not...

For those not familiar with First Look ... it's an ultrasound paired with blood work.  In the ultrasound they measure the nuchal translucency, which is the fluid at the nape of the babies neck.  They then take your blood test results and calculate what your risk is (1 in 1000 for ex.)  They are looking for chromosomal abnormalities.  From here, based on your risk, you can choose to do a CVS (no way in he**) or an amnio (prob. would opt out as well).  I don't think I'd do anything invasive that could put the baby at risk, because it wouldn't change what I'd do anyway.  However, I don't see anything wrong with the non-invasive tests.

Babydust ... thanks for the welcome!  And wish you the best!  Hope AF stays far away!!!
