Sleeping medicine withdrawal

My husband and I just found out on Wednesday that we are expecting our first baby. I had been on Trazadone nightly for years previously. Now, I can't sleep at all without it. Thursday night I got 1.5 hours.  Any suggestions from anyone else who has been through this?

You really need to talk to your Dr. Many sleep aids are highly addictive and you want to make sure that you have professional care to wean off of it.

Never ever take Melatonin during pregnancy! Even though your body produces melatonin naturally it is considered unsafe to take melatonin while you are pregnant.... I used to take 10mg nightly for cluster headache prevention and both my neurologist and my OB said not to take it anymore.

Try 3 mg of melatonin. I was in a nightly muscle relaxer for my excessive migraines, which definitely helped me fall asleep & can't take anymore. Melatonin doesn't have the same effect but helps some

I go through insomnia udually once a month. I take benedryl and drink chamomile tea before bed. That usually helps. Hopefully hormones take over and help you sleep. I went through a bout of insomnia in my 2nd trimester and im going through one now :/ not fun. Ive gotten about 11-12 hours of sleep in 3 days

Calcium is a natural muscle relaxant. Try taking calcium at night. Also, another helpful tip for falling asleep is to focus on the white noise around you (fan, buzzing, etc). It helps drown out any thoughts that might keep your brain active. If all of those fail, try a sleep hypnosis CD.

I sometimes have a hard time sleeping and take benadryl; it's safe for pregnant women. I hope it helps you. Take care.
