Smoking

Is anyone brave enough to share with me if they smoke? I'm finding it super hard to quit. Please don't judge

Nicotine replacement is NOT as bad for baby or you as smoking!  No carbon monoxide or tar or lead etc.  it is not good for baby but if you need it short term to quit then it is the lesser of evils. (And increases your chances of success)! Your doctor will be able to advise you.

Kudos for seeking help.
Stay away from drug remedies like patches etc. That can be more dangerous.

Motivation is key. Try to imagine all the worst complications that can happen to the baby & you. That may deter you from puffing.

In the meantime,  try one of those fake  vapor cigarettes. Not sure if they work but it may also help curb the urge for puffing toxic tobacco.

My sister smoked. Her son was born with club feet, has ADHD, low learning skills,  allergies, anxiety issues etc.
Not worth it! Quit forever if you can.
Good luck.

I smoked with all four of mine, I'm not saying it's the right thing to do anything that you can do to give your baby the best possible start you must try of coarse, all of my children were and are perfectly healthy. Stress will effect your baby too so try your very best but don't get upset if you fail just keep trying and good luck XX

I found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks. The week before finding out I smoked and drank my face off with my husband for our anniversary not knowing I was already pregnant. When we found out I was pregnant I felt so guilty for the weekend before and I knew from that moment that I HAD to quit. Because this body is not just MY body right now. Someone else is renting it and I can't abuse it. But like others are saying....you need to find the reason and the will to quit. Not just for you but for the person renting your body right now. I'm 24 weeks now and I do find that I still crave cigarettes because I have no other strategy to handle stress/anger/anxiety/sadness other than smoking. So that's the hardest part of quitting. Learning new coping skills for the reasons you smoke in the first place. Good luck.

I was the same but just made the decision to! Had 3 after I found out I was pregnant (finished the pack) then stopped. I actually am finding I have cravings now (19 weeks) worse than I did straight after I stopped (4weeks) but keep telling myself how well I have done and how bad I'd feel if I hadn't. Probably was a little easier for me as I had been trying to stop for about a year already, this just gave me some more motivation. Good luck mama!

I feel so much better that I'm not the only one. I just found out I was pregnant a couple of days ago and am having a hard time quiting myself. I don't smoke cigarettes anymore but I still use an e-cigarette. I know it's still bad for the baby. I thought it would be easier to quit for the health of my baby.

I smoked in 3 pregnancies, cut down but never quit.  This time however I absolutely made up my mind that I wouldn't.  And I succeeded!! You really need to make a firm division.  If you have doubt in your mind like I did previously...thinking "but I like smoking" and such, you will fail.  But if you are truly ready you will overcome!! Good luck!

My sister smoked with both her boys, but when she got pregnant with my niece it made her sick to smoke. That's how she knew she was pregnant. Good luck to you.

It was very hard to quit. The urges were terrible. However, my body kind of took over. Every time I would light one, I would get nauseated.
Talk to your doctor. He or she may have recommendations to help you. Have you tried the patch or anything else?

Good for you for trying!  It is hard.  I smoked with my first up until I was 4 months. I found it very difficult to quit. But then I kept thinking that I wouldn't just blow smoke in my baby's face- and that's what I felt like I was doing.  That was enough for me to quit. But you have to find what works for you mama. Don't give up, you got this:)

It is very hard to quit so go get some medical help asap. It is "stop-Tober" so great time to try and there's heaps of help out there.  Really good luck.
