Sore gums and popping ears!!

I am 14 weeks with my first baby and recently started having sore, bleeding gums and one ear pops all the time. I have also had sinus issues the entire time I have been pregnant. Are they all related? Anything I can do to ease any of the symptoms? My dr let's me take Claritin once a day for the post nasal drip but it doesn't help much! Thanks ladies!!!

I am a dental hygienist,  and bleeding gums during pregnancy is quite common. It is a form of gingivitis brought on by the increases in hormone levels going on in your body.  If you haven't had your teeth cleaned in a while, I would highly recommend doing so. Also,  it wouldn't hurt to have the cleaning done every 3 months while you are still pregnant.  Excellent home care and focusing on flossing daily will really help reduce the gingivitis.  A lot of women start to see a huge jump in cavities and other oral issues during and after pregnancy. I hope this helps!

Sinus congestion is my number one most annoying symptom of pregnancy. And it is very normal as your blood supply increases, the tissues swell. I have found doing a saline rinse kit has helped tremendously!

Thank you! I actually have a cleaning scheduled for tomorrow so I am hoping that helps. I've also been rinsing with salt water once a day and that seems to improve the bleeding when I brush. Will chewing sugarless gum after meals help? Who knew all these crazy things happen when you are pregnant? Lol

Sorry i should have specified, the message was for Aaryneliss.  One dentist declined doing a cleaning because i woulnt do x rays tjey said because insurance purposes.  The other wanted to do deep cleaning which costs $1000 that i dont have.  I know how important a cleaning is during pregnancy so I was bummed.  good luck with your pregnancy and your cleaning.

Having a dental exam is a good idea during prgnancy. I personally have to get a "permission slip" from my OB. It lets the dentist know what is allowed per my OB. I also wait until my second trimester, just for my own piece of mind. Most practitioners allow bitewing xrays with double shielding. The exposure to you is less than that if you went outside in the sun all day and the double shield protects baby.
