Still showing HCG! Weekly home tests...crazy?

I've been having cramps and have been worried to DEATH about chem pregnancy/early miscarriage.  I decided to help me through until feb 10, I'd do a test a week.  I know it's crazy, but I am so scared I'm going to lose it.

I'm being obsessive, I know.  I can't help it. I want this so much for us - and it was a surprise pregnancy too. I feel like I"m going nuts.

Anyway - took an First Response this morning. The positive line was like, BOING!  Honestly - I may be going crazy but that first little pink line, followed immediatly by the second - was a HUGE relief.

Is anyone else out there doing this or am I the only crazy one?

As the others said, mild cramping is very common and very normal.  And taking a test a week?  If your crazy, then I'm stark raving mad!  I have been known to take a test daily..sometimes more then one.  It is reassuring.

I think you need to do whatever it takes to relieve your stress.  I found that once I had that first u/s out of the way and saw that beautiful heartbeat, it got much easier to calm down.  If the anxiety increases or stays with you, please talk to your Dr.  Hormones can impact stress levels and fortunately you do not have to go through your entire pregnancy feeling this way.

Congrats to you, and wishing a happy and healthy 9 months!

Actually, age alone does not make you high risk.  Nor does the smoking (even if you smoked during pregnancy, although obviously a bad idea) or the drinking.  I was one week away from my 41st birthday when my son was born.  I never had to see a high risk Dr. at all.  High risk is usually determined from things like underlying medical issues or a history of second or third trimester loss.  Don't worry about being almost 39...around here that makes you young!! lol.

I would do it every day - but I can't afford the tests! lol.

It's good to know I'm not alone in this.  I honestly began to think I was losing it.

I did finally get through to my own doc, who referred me to an OB that will see me sooner rather than later.

funny side note though, when the appointment scheduler called me back today she said, "So what makes you high-risk?" I said, "well, I'm 38, and will be 39 before teh baby is born, I don't know when I got pregnant exactly, Nov or Dec so I don't know when my due date is, I smoked before I learned I was pregnant, I drank a couple times not knowing, I took Allegra, my other two pregnancies were problematic regarding blood pressure and with my last one I developed gestational diabetes." she asked if I had been AMA then too - lol I said, no. I was 28.

She scheduled me for Tuesday. LOL!  FINALLY someone listened.

Just so you know, mild cramps in early pregnancy are very normal - it is your uterus stretching to make room for the baby.  I had cramps most of my first trimester.  Try to relax and enjoy but if a test a week makes you feel better, then I do not see any harm.
