I'm scared

I have my transnuchal scheduled for the 26th --and well I'm scared! I've read so many posts now on this forum where moms-to-be have been given false positives and been thrown into panic and depression. Anyone willing to share their experience/opinions on this test good or bad? Has anyone just had the bloodwork done and not the scan? I have to decide wether or not to keep the appointment by this Monday. Note: I'm 40.  Thanks everyone  :0)

I agree with Tanker the choice has to be that of you and DH.  It is a pain free test and if you look at it like Tanker said it can really set your mind at ease.  DO NOT GET CAUGHT UP IN THE NUMBER COMPARISON...just what your say if you do the test.  good luck

In my opinion the scan is way better than the bw alone.  I wanted to skip all the tests for exact reason you expressing.  I just didn't want that dark cloud hanging over my pg.  In my heart I felt like everything was fine and I didn't want any scan mess that up for me.  Once the time got closer, I thought to myself: if I don't do this am I going to loose this feeling of well being and it will be to late to do the test?  So I called and made the appointment.  For me it went great and made me feel glad that I took the test.. but if things had went the other way, I'd be kicking myself for not leaving well enough alone...

It is such a personal choice and one you and dh will have to live either way.. My advice if you do take the test is don't get so focused on comparing you number  with others.. Think about the big picture about what your number says.. I've seen many ladies get upset because their number isn't as good as others, but their own chances of having a bs baby are also incredibly small and they lose sight of that..

Good luck either way.. hannah 29wks5d team blue!!

hi sleepless, try to relax,is this yr first baby?(mine too,I'm 41 now).In my opinion you should keep this appointment, the nuchal is a great test -no pain,no danger-which can give you a very good picture of how things are developing ,I would think it's much more frustrating to skip it-unless you chose to reject all available tests..As far as i know ,the nt combined with bloodwork is most accurate.Go for it,think positive, and everything will be fine.Merry Christmas!
