sleeping positions

Okay, I know the basics--don't sleep on your back starting in the 2nd trimester--sleeping on your right side is best. Why not on your right side? I keep waking up flipped over on my right side, is this a concern?

I bought one of those memory foam mattress toppers and that sure has been great in reducing hip pain. My left hip and legs were terribly sore because of sleeping on my left side with my 2nd baby. This time around, adding the memory foam mattress topper has been much better. I also sleep with a pillow between my legs and that helps reduce leg and hip pain too. In fact, I can definitely feel the difference the next morning if I forget to use the pillow between my legs.

I always woke up on my back and asked my DR she said that it is NOTHING to worry about, that you can pass out from the extra weight when on your back but you will USUALLY wake up before that.  So try to sleep on EITHER side but if not dont worry too much and enjoy your sleep while you can LOL ...I SURE DO  MISS IT LOL

Half the time, when I wake up DH isn't even in the bed with me anymore. In the middle of the night he moves to the guest room.

He is a light sleeper and says I have been snoring also.  I also do the moaning and groaning as well. I actualy have woken myself up a couple of times snoring.  I never snored before pg.  Unless I had a cold or something.

Yeah, i hear you on the pain thing w/ only sleeping on your left side.  My shoulder really hurts some days and its the most comfortable (if there is such a thing these days)!  I usually flip flop too and I've now resorted to moaning and groaning as I'm doing it according to hubby b/c I'm basically miserable all night long!  Nothing really works!  Oh and my favorite is that now i have a hard time breathing thru my nose so i sleep w/ my mouth open alot and occasionally snore!  I'm quite a vision of loveliness these days!  Good thing we're married!  HA!  ;)

I have even waken up with my head at the other end of the bed... guess in my sleep, Im trying ANYTHING..

I flip flop.  My rib cage and hips get too sore if I'm on one side for too long.  When my hips get sore sometimes it helps to stretch them by pushing my hip toward my feet while I'm laying on my side.  That helps some.

I took the habit of sleeping on my left side early in my pregnancy but the pain on my hip is getting unbearable.  The right side is way too uncomfortable. My midwife said that there is not only a position, that I can sleep on my back, propped up on some pillows, placed on my head and back. And that's my favorite position right now.

either side is okay but the left is best to promote the best flow of oxygen to both mother and child while the only concern with the right is the extra pressure on the liver , other than that right or left is okay, plus it takes pressure off back and vena carva vein, only problem I expierence is my friggin hips and siatic nerve , I sleep like a pancake flipping from one side to the other all night not to mention when I flip I gotta get up and pee. LOL
