miscarriage and cytotec

Has anyone recently been prescribed cytotec to speed up m/c process?  Yesterday there was no hearbeat on ultrasound i should have been 9 1/2 weeks.. but numbers were kind of not progressing .. so they did the u/s that was not scheduled only to find no heartbeat.  My RE wanted me to just let it take its course, but after 3 previous m/c i know i bleed FOREVER.  Family ob prescribed the cytotec.. to be honest even with the risks i loved it.. started to clear out in 45 min.. and today i feel like a million bucks.  I know we did everything we could to protect the baby, i was on 200mg prog a day and at home with my feet up.. it aws only measuring 6 weeks so something happened a while ago, this is the furthest i have gotten and it was exciting to see the fetus. i think thats why i am so at peace today...

So sorry for your loss.  I was given that for my first miscarriage and it worked perfect for me.  You want to try and avoid as many D&C's as possible.  Don't give up hope, it will happen again.  Best of luck to you.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH any day ............ how exciting !!!!!!!!!! Good Luck to you, what a great time of year to have a baby..   My dose mustve been a pretty high one.. its 3 30 am here and no signs of anything, so the m/c processed in 24 hours or less... it was a nice route to go i wish they had given me that before.. i had an injection the first time mexatethrate (sp) and it took 3 months.. it was horrible.........
Once again good luck to you.. take care

I'm so sorry for your loss. My doctor also prescribed cytotec to complete my missed miscarriage (a few of years ago). No heartbeat at 16 weeks. Took about 1 1/2 weeks at a low dose to complete but I was glad to go that route rather than a d&c. I had a healthy pregnancy and baby after that miscarriage and am due any day with another baby. Best wishes and hang in there!!!

Thank you for your kind words.. i really wanted a d & c to really clean it all out since it was the 4th m/c  the doctors really do that on me as a last resort since i have my tubes repaired things are kind of fragile in there.  Hubby and I are going to have some chromosonal (sp) testing done to make sure at this point we are a good combination.  Anything we can eliminate will just give my mind a little more peace.    I am the lucky one that is able to get pregnnat so many hopeful mothers do not even make it to that point.. Hoping and praying for a baby before i become a grandmother.. Daughter is going to be 18 and while it is just a joke, we kid all the time she will probably be married and pregnant first.. gosh i hope thats not true ;)

I feel your pain, I have mc twice and I opted for the  D&C, just to get it over with, you know how hard it is emotionally...I wish you the best and fast healing.

I am sorry for your loss, but am glad to hear you are at peace with it.  You are a strong women.

I was prescribed something when I started to miscarry in Jan., but I can't remember what it was called.  This is probably TMI, but I initially had to insert some of the tablets vaginally, then take the rest orally 2 or 3 times a day for a week.  It didn't work well for me and I wound up hemoraging quite badly and ultimately having an emergency D&C almost 4 weeks later.  I just never stopped bleeding.  I won't do it again, if I have another loss, I will opt for the D&C.  I am glad it worked for you though as a long drawn out process is not a good thing to go through on top of the emotional stress.  I wish you well Basil, and you know to PM me if you need to talk.

Take care.
