After 38hrs of labor (this was after my water broke) I was ready for the c-section!! I am glad I got to experience the labor I did, but the c-sections saved my baby's life. I am perfectly content with going on my third c-section for the safety of my babies. Keep in mind, all my pregnancies were high risk for numerous reasons. Like pooklet said, you should naturally dilate even if your water breaks before you think it's ready!
Yes it can, if labor starts, it should dilate you. Labor can start anytime, dilated/effaced or not. But if it doesn't start in 24 hours, you'll have to be induced.
I picture a c section to be really scary. Id be too scared to have a c section. Looking back , would you rather have vaginal birth or c section?
With my first pregnancy I was not dilated or effaced, but because I had significantly too much fluid my water broke early. They had to try to induce me to dilate. I made it to 7cm then my uterus swelled up and I closed down to 3cm. My baby was suffocating and so they did an emergency c-section. He is now almost 8yrs old and doing wonderfully!! With my second and now third pregnancy, drs did/are doing planned c-sections a little early so I don't have the same issue.
