I live at a farm with a well, and the well has never been tested, so I did use distilled water for baby bottles. Could also have gone the boiled-and-cooled route. But if we had been on municipal water I would not have. I don't think it would have mattered if the water had been filtered through the fridge, though. I just don't think those fridge filters are made for taking the kind of baddies out that can make you sick, they are mostly to keep there from being particles and also of course to make it taste fresher.
If you drink the water, you're baby can too!
If you're on municipal water supply you have no worries. Your water is tested & regulated. If you have a private well you should ask your pediatrician if nursery water would be better.
I used bottled water and fridge water. Being overly cautious is silly to me you can't keep your baby from everything.
I was thinking of the issue of, if you suspect your tap water, is the filter in a fridge enough. If the water coming out of the tap does not seem clean enough for a baby to drink, just the filter in a fridge would not clean it enough to make it safe. But if you think your tap water is fine, then you probably don't need to boil.
Filtered water isn't necessary. You can definitely use it, but if you'd drink your tap water that's just as good. Boiling water isn't necessary and special "nursery waters" are just a waste of money. Breasts and breast milk arent sterile, bottles and formula don't need to be either.
I used my filtered from my fridge for my first. She is 2 yes old now. They is my plan when this one comes as well.
Everything I've read says if you would drink the water, it is fine for a baby.
I don't particularly like the taste of our tap water, so we drink pitcher filtered water. That's what I'll be using for the baby as well.
I would boil it and let it cool. It is true that a fridge has a filter, but I have never heard it removes all pathogens, I thought it was more for removing tiny particles of stuff so the ice maker doesn't get clogged.
