You are at a safe point in your pregnancy to be medicated. I just went through a major ordeal being in the hospital for 3 days with cluster migraines.. In my last 4 pregnancys I never even took a tylenol, so I was so scared to take the medication they wanted me to. The drs explained to me that me being in pain and vomiting for days was much worse for the baby than a few days on pain medication. My BP was so high because I was in so much pain, I'm so glad I listened to him. The danger of narcotics is the very beginning when the baby is forming and at the end due to suppressing breathing, or if you were on for a long time, addiction to the baby.. I didn't fall into any of those categories and being out of pain.. PRICELESS :-) Most drugs move rapidly through your system
Per the website: http://www.rxlist.com/diflucan-drug.htm#wcp
"DIFLUCAN should be used in pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the possible risk to the fetus."
It looked like there were only problems in pg rabbits given this drug for over 3 months with high doses. I would call your OB's office and ask to speak to either a nurse, midwife or your doctor. Sometimes you just need reassurrance.
I had a kidney infection about a month ago and I was given percocet for the horriable and excruitaing pain. My doctors reassured me they would never give me anything that would harm my baby or me. And some doctors can differ greatly on what they will give their patients. For example, my friend's OB told her that she would rather have her drink diet coke than regular coke. One, she was not too concerned with the artifical sweetner nor the caffeniene. Now, my OB said no way to both.
I hope this helps.
Why would your Dr prescribe you meds that are unsafe for pregnancy? Was that your OB/GYN or your routine Family Dr? Any competent OB will know what meds are safe to ingest during pregnancy...if yours doesn't...find one that will!
Hi, ask your OBE. Maybe the drug is ok for short-term use at your stage of pregnancy. Suitable drugs can can vary and depending on how they're used also.
Hope someone else could chime in.
If it was your OBE who prescribed this why not ask him why he said it's safe when you looked it up and it said it wasn't. Maybe he can reassure you.
