best you can do is go and speak with a dna counsler.. from what I understood??? is that DS doenst even show up till around 6-8 months of age. Im not really sure though..
but if there are any detections.. of anything.. It will 1.. give the ob information on rather you need a high risk delivery... 2.. there are many things they can do to help while pregnant.. sergrey etc..heart defect.. etc..while baby is still in your womb.
the dna drs.. told me alot of things.. but really didnt go into details because they just wanted to wait for the outcome. Its amazing on what the medical field can do these days.
the cvs has a very high risk of mc only because of having it so early in prego.. infact.. there not even sure if the mc was just a natural case because of being done so early..
If you were to abort becasue of ds.. I would rec. cvs .. and my ob did.. I would never do such a thing.. so I didnt even concider the cvs..
the amnio you cant even do till around the 17w....and that would be just morbid to wait so long.. not sure if it can even be done at that stage of life? law wise..
I just dont understand why alot of peope assume abortion.. I always feel like I need to explain myself when it comes to the amnio testing.
I am 12 1/2 weeks today, my doctor doesn't beleive in Amnio because of the risk of miscarriage. The ultrasound and blood test i had last week will also show if there will be a problem. The ultrasound measured the fluid on the babies neck at 1.2 mm which is low risk for Downs. First thing out of my mouth to the doctor was i don't want amnio. It doesn't matter if child has downs because the child will be loved no matter what. I also know of a couple people that were told they had downs but were fine when born and also to this date. what happens if the doctor says your baby has downs and you abort but the tests were wrong
I think its whatever you are comfy with....I opted not to do anything invasive CVS or Amnio. But DH and I were not of the mind set that we would NOT terminate or pregnancy either way (something wrong or not). And I have 2 friends w/special needs kids and they didnt develop until after the kids were born really so to me it just didnt seem worth the risk. And they both told me that is will be a learning curve not just to understand a disability but to manage it as a married couple. Just my food for thought. Good luck in whatever u decide to do!!!

mine didnt hurt at all.. just nervous and knowing what they were doing.. made it uncomfortable for a sec. they didnt even numb the area.. that would mean two needles.. ha ha.
but like Delma said... information was well worth the wait. glad I did it and would do it again, just to save on the stress of what ifs...I would atleast wait till around 18w though... lowers the odds of mc..
good luck.. really.. its not bad
Well to know the truth of what is goin on with baby is entirely up to you. My age played a role as high risk so I had one done and bf felt like it would be better if we knew what was going on with our baby if he had any abnormalities. I for one could not handle having a child with a disibility, so therefore I needed to find out. I am in the clear now and I do not regret having it done. As for hurting ....I wont lie to you. It does hurt some, but just for a split second and its over. If I needed to do it over again with another pregnancy I would. Best of luck to you
