Worried...I'm 6 weeks and have a bad cold

It's Day 2 of my cold and I'm miserable. This is my first baby at 35yrs old and I'm nervous. I suffer from allergies, asthma, and GERD already prior to pregnancy and still taking my meds. I found out that I'm vitamin D deficient 2 weeks ago so my doctor prescribed 50,000ui to take once a week (my number was 17). I talked to the pharmacy about what I could take and she recommended neti pot and humidifier for my congestion, headache and cold take Tylenol. They only had extra strength so she said that was fine just take 1 pill instead of 2 pills. For my extremely sore swollen throat do hot water with lemon and honey. I found out that I should be using only pasterized honey. My husband recommended natural garlic too. Are there any other remedies I could do that will not harm my baby because I feel terrible and can't sleep. I'm also worried about all the meds I'm already taking but my OBGYN, Family doctor and pharmacist said it's fine. Am I worrying too much?

Yankeegirl218 Sudefed is ok to take at 6 weeks? I thought I had to wait until I was further along. Thanks for the info. I hope it helps.

Thank you so much alid32 for your feedback. I've been trying to rest more and increase my fluids too. Not getting much rest though and my appetite is low. I've been eating crackers and chicken noodle soup.

You can't just take anything for a cold.  Some of the medication contains ingredients that aren't safe for the baby. Everything that you were told to take is right in the money. There's not much else besides cough drops- but check again with your doc add there are a few cold meds that are okay. Just increase fluids and lots of rest.

I had a severe head cold earlier this week. 100+ fever, congested, even sore eyes. Took Tylenol Cold. (My OB also said Sudafed Cold...anything acetaminophen based). Regular Tylenol wont do much for your cold, except for curing a headache or fever, so get the Cold tabs. As long as you're not on it for an extended amount of time, it is safe for you and baby, just let your Dr know you have started taking something. The cold medicine has no effect on the Vitamin D. But don't know for certainty about you asthma/allergy meds. So best to get the ok from OB. Feel better mommy...good luck!
