In the dog pack or a wplf pack just the alfa gets to have puppies
But the one after her gets the phantom pregnacy just in case the mom doesnt have milk or if something happens
So your dog might be smelling you and realized that you are pregnant and is getting ready to do what i just explained
You should spray her
So you avoid a lot of health problems once she gets older

I have 3 dogs. Two neutered boys (4 yrs & 10 yrs) and one spayed female (1 yr). My 4 yr old boy is the same as always.  My 10 year old wont stop sniffing my crotch and hardly has left my side since i was about 5 weeks. Im 31 weeks now. My girl dog who never had puppies had a false pregnancy (vet diagnosed) and is now extremely protective of me to the point shes downright agressive to the other dogs.  My vet said its all due to the hormones and the pheromones Im putting off due to my pregnancy. She recommends using a baby doll and recorded baby crying to play out what it will be like when. The baby is here. My younger male dog could care less, my older dog hears the crying and runs over to investigate and lays down next to me. My girl is all over me sniffing trying to see the baby doll. I think she knows its a fake but she tries to console it anyway. My vet told me to get her a substitute baby (a stuffed puppy).... But she just saw a toy.  So this will be interesting!  Good luck... Post how it goes for you. Id live to hear if my dogs are the only ones acting like this.

My dog is not spayed yet. But closely watched. She will be going to get spayed in less than a month.

My dog had a phantom pregnancy as well. We still don't know why, I wasn't pregnant at the time. My vet said it happens sometimes and they don't know why either.

My dog has phantom pregnancies when I get pregnant, then suffers depression for a couple weeks when she realises her body didn't make puppies.

Thank you. I feel so much better. Thought I might be going crazy. I'm 37 and this my first pregnancy. Super paranoid about a lot of things. You helped ease some of it. Thanks again

It is very possible that she could be just because she has a sense that a baby is coming. They can not tell the difference if it is going to be their baby or not and their bodies prepare them for a baby.

I had a female dog that did not go out by herself and she was not pregnant but we decided to get a new kitten. When we brought the kitten home our dog followed her around licking her and cleaning her. Next thing we know our dog is producing milk and the kitten starts to nurse off of her. We took our dog to the vet and he said that there was nothing wrong with her and she thought the kitten was her baby. She continued to nurse the kitten for six months to a year until the cat became a mother herself. It was funny and actually amazing to watch. She treated the kitten like her own baby and the kitten did not seem to mind.

I don't assume that your baby will be cared for by the dog I just wanted to give you my experience with the situation you are having. She never did it while I was pregnant myself but she was very protective of me and baby once she arrived. She sat for hours just staring at baby not moving and barely blinking. Since I coslept she would sleep right at her feet and no one could mess with baby. I do assume that she will be very protective once your baby does come and she may even get protective over you once pregnancy progresses a little more. It is awesome that she is so perceptive of what is going on with you.
