Its not necessary to bathe newborns so much, their skin is very sensitive and can get dried out fastee. My dr. Said every 3-4 days is good with an occasional towl cleaning in between.  Towel cleaning only is preferred before umbilicle cord falls off.

They say everyday will dry out their skin. I was told with my second only once a week (with my first I did every other). Still tho I always did every two to three days and with baby number 3 on the way I plan to do the same.

I'm a mother of 2 with baby # 3 on the way and I will always shower my sons every other day I covered their umbilical cord with a peace of gauze and bandaid water proof they sleep better. But if its to cold I will just give them a sponge bath.. but its up to you ...

I use to give my nephew shower every other day since it was winter time but in summer,  I would massage him with baby oil and let them lay in sun for bit and give him shower every morning.
