Worried

I am 9 weeks 6 days pregnant and my Dr. office just called to give me my levels.  My beta went down from about 80,000 to 60,000.  They are telling me that this happens during 9 to 10 weeks.  Has this happen to anyone else?  Has anyone heard of this.  I am starting to get worry.

I don't think you have ANYTHING to worry about. I would believe them, baby sounds just perfect!

They peak and then may go down a bit. Here are the normal ranges that I found.

"Guideline to hCG levels during pregnancy:

hCG levels in weeks from LMP (gestational age)* :

    * 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
    * 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
    * 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
    * 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
    * 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
    * 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
    * 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
    * 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
    * 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml

* These numbers are just a GUIDELINE-- every woman’s level of hCG can rise differently. It is not necessarily the level that matters but rather the change in the level."

As you can see they peak at about 9-12 weeks and that peak can be as low as 25,700 and then can go down as low as 3,640 in weeks 25-40. What you are experiencing is normal and nothing to worry about as your doctor says.

Congratulations!

Yes, we did see the hb and last week it was at 171bpm.  They said the size was perfect too.  I just don't understand why the numbers went down.

I have heard them to plateau but not decrease. If they say that happens, I would believe them. If you don't mind me asking, why are they taking your levels at almost 10 weeks? Have you seen the hb yet? Usually once you see the hb, the numbers don't really matter anymore.
