castor oil??

I'm 40 weeks and I'm thinking of taking castor oil to induce labor. Any other mother's have any experience if it worked or not?  I just really want my baby out I don't want to sound or feel selfish.

Don't do it! Makes you vomit or have diarrhea. Have lots of sex, the semen softens up the cervix and can bring about labor, as well as walking or doing stairs or squats.

I took it. It did nothing and I drank the whole 2oz bottle. I didnt even get belly cramps. The only thing I got was some slight nausea from drinking it fast. That was it. Good luck though.

Castor oil is a cathartic - it can induce contractions and as other have said can make you vomit or have diarrhea, but it can also make your baby have their first bowel movement while still in the uterus. Which can cause very serious respiratory complications - a newborn with pneumonia is in big trouble. I truly don't think it's worth the risk.
