I tore with all three babies and two of them I had failed epidurals so I felt everything including when to push. Personally I just feel the size of the baby is more of an issue for tearing than the epidural. Even with the epidural if it's strong enough to need to be toldwhen to push the doctors and nurses watch the mmonitor and have you push with your contractions not just when they guess you should.

I went natural with my first & tore with her & had to b stitched, that was more painful then my labor. Devoloped a hemriod after, she was all worth it! Whatever u choose its all worth it when u hold ur baby : ) Best wishes

I am not against the epidural at all but I wanted to mention that for the moms that tore badly, chances are they tore because of getting the epidural. There is a higher chance of tares when you can't feel to push. When you are not medicated your body tells you when to push reducing the chance of taring because it is a slower process. When you are medicated the doctors have to tell you when to push and often times women tare because you can't feel it and continue to push. I have absoloutly nothing against the epidural but I thought you should know that that is often the cause of bad tares. Don't be sacred, however you bring your baby into the world all that will matter is that sweet bundle of joy!

Trust me when those contractions are a minute apart and your gettin no relief your gonna want it you won't even think about it ! The only thing that hurt was the shot to numb before the epidural.. the epidural is uncomfortable but within 10 mins no.pain at all!! don't worry!! good luck

I was more scared of giving birth with my first than the epidural, so I got it. It made the pain non existent. I was super grateful too because I tore something fierce and had to get sewn back up. With the next two I didn't tear one bit, but had the epidural anyway because the 1st was such a breeze. Anyhow- with my last the epidural didnt take for whatever reason. And I felt everything, but I was up and walking around within minutes after having him- and I felt great! With this one I'm going to go natural since I felt so good after the last and I havent torn since the 1st. Anyway- whatever you decide you'll be fine. The epidural definitely makes it more of a vacation and unless you have previous back issues, it should go smoothly. They do them a million times a day, and not just for deliveries, but all sorts of other procedures, too. Good luck to you!

In my opinion you will be SO thankful that you got it!! I was soo scared to get it with my first so I got demeral (spelling?) First and I eventuallu got the epidural which worked amzingly and I couldn't feel any pain. I wish I wouldnt have gotten the demeral because I forgot a lot of what happened during my labor so I didnt get it the second time I gave birth I just got the epidural and it was much better

Its really not as bad as it seems unless u have back probs already then I prob wouldnt get it but I've had it with my last two and I was sooooo happy cuz I tore pretty bad with both and that is something I did not want to feel. I know your nervous but things can go wrong with any type of meds so your taking a chanve with anything try not to be nervous it will be ok.
