decreased progesterone level in pregnancy

last period 3/22. tested 7days ago and prog level was 11.8 hcg 904, 2 days later prog level was 7.8 and hcg 1400, 2 days later prog is up to 9.8 hcg to over 2000. doct does not advise prog suppositories due to my age [41]. is there any hope? why did the prog level start rising again after the fall [which doc told me it was a beginning of a miscarriage], doct tells me to wait 1 week and retest and take an u/sound but in the meantime do you think there is a change of a healthy preg and healthy baby? i would understand the drop as a signal of a miscarriage but why the rising now? do down baby's usually have low progesterone? thank you so much.

Hey I am 40 years old, 5 weeks 3 days and just heard from the nurse my progesterone levels fell from 14 (2 days ago) to 8... I am so worried... A little research on line has me even more confused because apparently progesterone levels fluctuate based on what we eat, time of day etc etc etc. BUT The nurse said this is likely an unhealthy pregnancy that will result in miscarriage so I am curious to hear from anyone who had dropping progesterone levels but carried a healthy baby to term....

I'm not sure about the whole "downs thing" but I think they like your progesterone above about 15 or so. Also your HCG isn't doubling like they would probably like to see either. Doesn't mean for sure miscarriage though. With my daughter my hcg didnt' properly double at first and she is 1 1/2. In this case it is going to have to be a wait it out. I sure hope things speed up and turn around for you.
