my doctor listened to my concerns and gave me an ultrasound today and nothing showed up.  she didn't do a t/s just a belly.   i totally started balling my eyes out and started hyperventating.  i have to go back for a transvaginal asap.  im so very scared.   she mentiond having to put a catheter in my urethra to fill me up with water and i dont think i could handle that.   opinions gals?       im sick to my stomache!!

going to hospital friday for both an abdominal and vaginal ultrasound.  for some reason they told me they are doing both.  dr. said today she may of seen a "liquid mass" on ultrasound but didn't call it the sac.  theyre letting me drink the water and not do the catheter! thank gosh!  ive had a panic attack over this, I'm a little better now.   if theres no baby i hope my body naturally rids itself of whats not needed.. my friend had a d&c and she said she developed problems from it.  that scares me.  i hope they give my body time to try to rid of it before doing anything else.  im not going to try to get pregnant again, this was to much for me.   thank you guys!!

by, "they didn't see anything"....  you mean not even a sac -- you mean absolutely NOTHING?  I only ask because I think it they did see ANYTHING, it was probably because your bladder wasn't full-  it they saw a sac and couldn't make out a baby,  that would be a different story-  I'd think-  but I am no expert, obviously....

So if they did in fact see nothing at all,  I think I'd try not to worry and go back for the next one with a full bladder...  I know it will be hard not to do...  when is your next one again?

whirly - I'm kind of confused - they said you have to have a full bladder for a transvaginal u/s?  I'm a little overweight (sigh) & like many ladies on this forum, I've had countless t/v u/s's & the nurses always instructed me to empty my bladder before the u/s.

My point is that maybe, just maybe something would show up if u/s is performed vaginally as opposed to abdominal.  I know you said you're 10 weeks - is there any way your dates could be off?  I would think before they write this pregnancy off that they would want to perform the u/s a different way - I would insist on a t/v u/s just to make sure.

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through all of this - God bless, jen

My ultrasound monday was abdominal but my bladder was full.  Even then they were going to switch to t/v, but it didn't turn out that I had too.  A full bladder is really important with ultrasound. I am going in at 9 weeks again for another, and they told me to come with bladder full.  I would try not to worry...when do you have your t/v scheduled for?  Keeping you in my thoughts.

Was your u/s performed by your doctor or a technician?
You must have something in your uterus at 10 weeks in order to still be producing HCG.  I had an empty sack and a yolk sack at 9 weeks, which is still horrible, but it was something in my uterus.
If your test was done by a doctor ( some are very bad at u/s and they often cannot read them correctly) and not a tech and they saw nothing - it must be the machine and empty bladder.  Ask for a HCG check.  Something is making your body  think its pregnant.
Hold onto hope until you get a transvaginal.

Oh, man..that's such a disappointment! Hopefully something will show up. But, I have to be honest, I think something SHOULD show up. I didn't have a full bladder at 8 weeks, I am pretty overweight, and we could still see the heartbeat. Perhaps, though, your dates are off? Is that a possibility? I'm so sorry...you're in my thoughts!

not with a empty bladder all the us you hear of us on here early on are done vaginally... that is why many dr don't do early ones without reason because they have to be done vaginally.. you have to have a full bladder to see.. especially if you are overweight...

They can't get a good look at you with the abdominal u/s that early in pregnancy without a full bladder, probably they'd get a better view with a transvaginal u/s.

They may be able to do the abdominal , but you will need a full bladder, but you can just drink lots of water before the abdominal if you're going back for that.  They only use the catheter if they want to fill your bladder up then and there, but not for a scheduled appt.
