I totally agree that using LMP is not the most accurate.  But even the best Dr. will tell you it's an estimated due date.  The best method today is early u/s dating.  It is very accurate in first trimester, and you often see due dates changed based on it.  LMP is simply an estimate as very few can actually pinpoint conception.  I wouldn't bet on it though, even for those of us with 28 day cycles, and certainly not for those with an irregular cycle.

I disagree with the posters who reference your LMP. IF you have a regular 28 day cycle, using your last menstual period and Nagele's Rule will give a due date. IF, on the other hand, you have irregular periods or a cycle that is longer or shorter than the 28 day average, Nagele's Rule is not as accurate.

This calculator will allow you to enter in the CONCEPTION date http://www.justmommies.com/duedate.shtml

If your baby was conceived on Feb 14 this calculator indicates as due date of Nov 7 :)

With my daughter, my LMP was in July or August of 1989....she was actually conceived in October of 1989. I had very irregular periods and my HCP overlooked that when estimating my due date (I kept telling them she was due July 9, 1990). When the baby wasn't growing enough to be due on the date indicated by my LMP, I was sent for a US and they FINALLY revised my due date...Daughter was born July 13, 1990 and was estimated to be 5 days post term...

Well, in order to tell you that we need to know the first day of last menstrual period.  As we mentioned, you start counting weeks on that day.  Your Dr. will ask you the same thing, or will use ultrasound to date you.

Jackieee is exactly right.  It's always estimated 40 weeks from first day of last menstrual period.  Congrats!!

you need to figure out when the first day of your last period was (or at least when your last period was) and then take out a calender i suppose and count 40 weeks from that date, and there you have your "due date"
