Im tolerant to pain and contractions caught me off guard with my first. i got an epidural and it was a great relief. my son was 11 lbs 3ozs. happy and healthy. i would say do it. if your moving too much they wont do it.
If you're nervous about it I'd consider going natural. Do some research, and try to prepare your body/mind for it. When time comes if you think you can't do it then get the epidural, but at least try. Going natural is all about preparation. I felt nothing but a little pressure with my epidural, I was trying to go natural but ended up having to have a c section which sucked but at least I tried ;)
Oh wow thats terrible cause i do have migranes
Oh wow that ***** cause i do have migranes
They numb the area first around the epidural space. Feels like little needle sticks, kinda of like the dentist. Then they insert the big needle and tube. Just so you know, if you're prone to migraines you could get what is called the epidural migraine. I've had 3 epidurals and it finally hit me on the 3rd one so this go round I'm opting not to have it done. I would rather deal with pain than the migraine and all of the complications that came with it.
Oh yea trust me i know my mom told me her natural experience story wit me lol now i jus gotta talk my boyfriend into me getting it
My experience was I arrived at the hospital with my first son already 5 cm dilated. About 2 hours after I arrived, I finally got my epidural. I was in hard labor and the anesthesiologist would work in between my contractions to get the long thin tube like thing inserted in my back. During sticking the needle/tube like thing I was having contractions to which I moved slightly, the Dr said DO NOT move cuz obviously it can cause paralysis, so I withstood the needle and contractions so as not get PARALYZED!! LOL. Then it was all good. I would say get the epidural a lil earlier when contractions are r a lil further apart, but then u run the risk of the epidural beginning to wear off by the time u start to push. Just don't move when u get the epidural, having a baby naturally will be ten times more painful..lol. Just tellin' it like it is...
