feel behind

I'm 22 weeks and haven't purchased anything for the baby...not because of money or not knowing what I'm having...It's been so long I feel lost on what's really needed and what's a waste of money...seriously my baby boy is 12...I'm starting over and feel clueless

With my first, I swear my nursery looked like a well-stocked babies-r-us store. But, with experience comes clarity. 12 years later with this baby, I feel like less is more.  If I have a carseat, a bassinette, diapers and some sleepers...Im SET. LOL.  All they do in those first few months is breastfeed and poop anyway!  I'll get other stuff as the need presents itself.

I have a few things started. I have a hand me down crib, its gorgeous.  My sister is holding a mattress for me. My MIL is getting the stroller.  Bf and I will get the car seat and I really want a swing like I had with my first 2. Folding so you can take it anywhere. I've bought bedding and some clothes at consignment shops and I really like to browse ebay. I've gotten baby bottles and a nifty thing that holds nipples and lids in the dishwasher. I also picked up a Vera Bradley diaper bag for $17. Highly recommend ebay and consignment.
The only thing I didn't know was that car seats come with expiration dates now. If you get a used one, check the date. The company won't stand behind their safety in a crash if it is outdated.
Oh and for those of you in colder climate expecting soon, I found what seemed wonderful. Called a Bundle Me. Replaces snow suit. But then found out if you don't cut the back out it will also void the car seat warranted in a crash.

Try going online & looking up newborn mist have lists. If that doesn't help, just start out w/ the basics.

I'm 28w and only have a play ( the one I used with my nephew, he is almost 4) a baby monitor and 11 bottles (4 of  2oz, 4 of 4 oz, 1 of 8 oz and 2 of 9 oz).  I'm not planning on buying any more bottles bc I want to breastfeed.  I already started looking at cribs, baby stroller and carriers just to see what's in the local market. Yesterday I signed a contract to change the window  at the nursery and they will deliver in 3 weeks so I haven't began with it yet. As pp said you have plenty of time.. So don't worry.

When I was pregnant with my first, I was determined to do everything "right". I wanted to by diapers every single week even though I had no clue how to buy them, well what to look for.  I managed to buy a few things that I ended up leaving somewhere in a store (mommy brain). Then I was nervous thinking no one was going to give us things we needed and I was a mess before the shower thinking not one person would have shown up. Fortunately I had everything I needed and more. But here I am yet again with my second pregnancy and haven't kept anything from my first 2 years ago...I'm wondering will people be that generous again?

Im almost 22 weeks and only just bought a second hand bassinette, was given some newborn clothes and have some nappies and came across my 15 year old daughters old bassinette and cot blankets. At this stage i only have the true necessities for if by some chance baby came early otherwise im waiting for my baby shower cause i dont want doubles and triples of everything.
Ive chosen to go mainly secondhand for furniture because they dont spend long enough in it so you can get good quality stuff for a fraction of the price.
I wouldnt stress you have time.

My daughter is 10 yrs old, and Im 29 weeks w/ a baby boy. I felt kinda lost, too, at first, but then thought, 'What does he absolutely need if he were to come right now?'
So, I have the crib, car seats (& stroller because it was a combo.) I got bedding, some diapers, portable bath. I just picked up a swing & a pack n play. The only thing I know I need to have yet are bottles. The rest I'm planning on getting as the weeks go by.
Now that I have the absolute must-haves, it helps pass the time by of waiting for baby to come, by purchasing the rest of the items :-)

Don't worry, I'm 34 wks and wasn't concerned that I waited so long to buy things for baby.  I bought a used crib and changing table off of CL 2 wks ago, went to the thrift and bought a ton of brand new lookin baby clothes really dirt cheap, and got the nursery almost all set up all within this past wknd.  I still need to pack my hospital bag & diaper bag, get the car seat and a tv for the nursery and we're all set.  I expect to be done with all the getting of baby stuff by this weekend or the next, and then I still need to get the house cleaned thoroughly as well.  I'm not worried one bit and I will be 36-37 weeks by then, so don't feel bad!! U still have plenty of time! Lol

The only thing I have bought is a package of diapers, and that was when I was at 7 weeks, I am at 15 now. I just have not felt like shopping for the baby. Anytime I look at clothes they are all winter wear, and my baby is due in July, and then after that I just loose interest. I have found lists online with what you need for the baby, and printed it and just put it away. I also feel clueless too, the other day asked someone what "nappies" are. I felt like an idiot asking, but I didn't know, and it was bothering me. And also changes to crib requirements, so much has changed since having my 11 yr old. I guess what I am trying to say is that your not alone.

I haven't bought anything either. We are waiting until we move next month. Less stuff to move. I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow so we have time. My baby boy it 19 years old. Things have changed alot so it can be confusing. Just start with your basic stuff like cribs, car seats, and clothes. Or just walk around a couple of stores and look at items before you purchase. It will come to you about what you want to get.
