TTC Naturally Questions - Please Provide Your Input!!

Hi you guys.  I am 38 and have been TTC naturally for three months now and had some questions of you guys.
I'm not using anything to help us conceive other than a little advice from ob and a ovulation predictor.
I wanted to know if you guys had any recommendations that worked for you to help you conceive such as vitamin supplements, preseed, etc.  I have done some research and not sure if it's worth it to use anything else in ttc.
I was just curious as to the experience you guys have in this area.  My ob ran tests this month that showed FSH/TSH/Estradial levels are all realy good so I don't know if I need to do anything else yet, as the doc thinks we should try a different BD schedule this month.  Thanks for the help and I'm hoping to conceive this month!!!!

I'm 40 and 21 weeks pregnant with a baby conceived naturally.  In addition to the OPK's, I also used preseed.  The other thing I did was really concentrate on ensuring plenty of, and healthy cervical mucus.  No alcohol or caffeine starting about 5 days before O time.  Only because it deydrates you and can lessen your cervical mucus.  I also made sure I drank a tonne of water around that time.  And lastly, I took Robitussin (as in the cough syrup).  It has to be the type where Robitussin is the ONLY active ingredient.  I would take a few teaspoons a day starting around 5 or 6 days prior to O, then stop it as soon as I O'd.  You wouldn't have believed the increase in cm, it was amazing. Good luck to you!!

Has your DH's count been checked? I would recommend your DH take a multivitamin every day as well. My DH's count more than doubled after taking 1 for a couple of months.

I used OPKs and preseed.  I was very spontaneous with having sex throughout the month.  I didn't just have it on the days the OPK indicated. I became pregnant naturally both times.  I wish you much success and a BFP very soon!!

I tracked my BBT and I also took Evening Primrose (which helps with your CM).  I also took a low dose baby asprin, extra folic acid and PN vitamins.

Hi Tracey,

I took the natural approach too, and it worked for me. Almost zero caffeine or alcohol, very healthy diet, supplements. As for actual conception, I did track BBT (which was frustrating for me as my BBT is chronically low). I used the OVWatch. I don't know if it actually helped or not but I only used it for 2 months before conceiving.

If I hadn't conceived I was all set to try the two things that worked best for a friend: Preseed, and Fertility Blend supplements-- she and her husband both took them. In fact, I have unopened packages of both and I would love to send them to you! If you are interested, just email me privately.

Thanks you guys for your comments.  I've been taking vitamins and extra folic acid as well and ob said that we should have sex on the 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th day of my cycle each month.  Says it gives you the best chance to conceive while giving hubby time to "refuel".... Here's hoping.  I've been traking my bbt too, but not sure what to make of it as it seems to fluctuate a lot.  I know there are a lot of ladies in the community who have been through so much more than me, but I would love to conceive soon, preferably this month.

It sounds like your on the right track! For me charting my temps, cm, and using opk's did the trick. It helped me to figure out my fertile days I had been off by almost week so once I had it charted out we got pg the very next month. My friend who got pregnant a few months after me had the same issue. She was bding on the wrong days and once she had 3 months of temps and opk's charted she got pg.

Good luck.

I'm 39 and just conceived in August.  My theory...I used the ovulation calculators that are out there and marked my calendar.  I also tracked my cervical mucus - thats usually a good gage.  Right after my period ended my husband and i would have sex 2 days on - 1 day off.  I know that sounds silly, but hey after 2-3 months of doing this - it worked.  I'm 6 weeks preg.  We did the same thing last year and it also worked in 2-3 mths - that one sadly ended in mc.  Good luck!!

Oh I've also been taking a prenatal and and extra folic acid.

I was using OPKs but the first month I kept track of my BBT I had success I don't know much was sheer luck but I am a sure fan of tempting now. My good friend said that Preseed it what did it for her it was going to be next on my list but woohoo! I'm now 7 weeks. I sending you bunches of sticky baby dust!
