food anxiety

Hey there.  I'm a 35 years old, pregnant with my second child.  I'm only 8 weeks now.  I would think since I've gone through this before I wouldn't be so crazy, but all the list of foods to all to avoid are giving me serious anxiety. No deli meats or soft cheese for risk of listeria. I just ate a pepperoni pizza and salad with feta cheese, freaking me out. No smoked foods, no soft cheese, no, no, no! How strict do you follow the recommended diet, meaning the foods to avoid?
Thanks

I eat deli meats without warming them. In the UK I've never even heard it being an issue. I avoid mould ripened cheeses and liver based products. That's pretty much it and this is my third healthy child.

You can have deli meats if you heat them up first. It kills the bacteria. You can also have soft cheeses as long as they're pasteurized. Never heard the "no smoked foods" rule before. Limiting tuna or high-murcury content fish like swordfish is a good one to follow. Same with avoiding raw or undercooked meats like sushi.
