38 is still young for menopause. Has a doctor confirmed that???

Your chances will depend on the clinic that you use.  All the IVF clinics report their numbers (their success rates) to their professional association, so you could certainly rank various clinics if you felt like it.  In my case, I just went to the best clinic in our area.  They have an association with a particular donor agency, but would have used someone else if I'd had a different donor.

Good luck with your jouney!  It's expensive, frustrating and time-consuming, but then, so is parenthood, and who wouldn't do that?!?  LOL

You go girl!  I'm over 40 and am 15 weeks pregnant with twins using donor eggs.  We spent about 4 years trying with my own eggs to no avail.  You increase your odds with the younger donor eggs, as older women with older eggs have a higher miscarriage rate.   It's the best thing we ever did.   Do your homework though...check with the CDC regarding the donor egg facilities.   Also, compare donor facility fees and make sure you know if the donor has donated before or if she is a first time donor.  If you are lucky, you could use a younger sister or friend as the donor.  It's worth it in the end... I'll get back to you in 6 months :)  Sending you good vibes.

Hi I am 36 and was told by 2 differnt drs I was in early menopause.  After seeing an RE(3rd dr) and having bloodwork ultrasound and other tests, we came up with diagnosis and a plan that involved surgery injectable meds and timed intercourse and am now 22w4d pg.  I wouldnt jump to ivf and egg donor just yet until you have some testing done.  You may find like I did drs can be wrong.  Good luck.

Congratulations on your pregnancy...

At my age most doctors assume I am in menopause also but I requested testing and I am not even peri-menopausal... been TTC for 2 yrs now and succeeded 3 xs but had early miscarriage... or chemical pregnancy... currently taking a break and will start trying again in Feb. 2011...

Maybe its something simple, I know with me dh was fine but I had some endometriosis  high fsh and my amh was on the low side.(I know simple right? lol at least we identified the problem and plans to fix it)  I had lap. to remove the endo.and my fsh dropped when I did that and the meds evidentally helped with everything else.  We also tried for a little over a year this time.  Previously I had 2 m/c then 2 sons. Are you seeing an RE?  They have so much more advanced testing and treat aggressively so might be the way to go.  Good luck hope all goes well for you.
