hand, foot, and mouth disease

So I watch a little boy that has somehow gotten hand foot and mouth disease. I'm afraid I'll get it. I'm due in 2weeks is there any harm that could be caused to my baby? Has anyone had experience with this.?

No but It's commonly only in kids 10 and under but young adults and older adults can catch it. It's blister like bumps on the hand feet and mouth. It's starts out with a fever and thenough the bumps will occur.

Honestly with the disease being so contagious,  I would request that the parents keep him home until it is gone. Most day cares would as the other children could catch it. Would probably be safest for you too.

My sister in law who is 38 weeks pregnant was exposed to it about a month ago. Her doctor made her come in and do an ultrasound because it can be VERY dangerous for the baby. I'd call your doctor right away and tell them.

Usually hand foot mouth disease doesn't effect adults. I'd just make sure you're washing your hands frequently. I don't believe the disease itself can cause harm to baby but call your Dr to be sure. I have worked in PEDs for many years and been exposed to coxsackie virus frequently and I myself have never gotten it.

Call your dr right away, it's a highly contagious virus. I have no idea what effect it could have on your baby, but I had it a few years ago (long before I was pregnant) and it was AWFUL. I couldn't eat anything for a week, was in terrible pain,  and basically slept the whole time.
