FSH affects your ovarian reserve and makes it more difficult to conceive. I don't think it increases probability of Downs.
It seems like a steep jump in fsh. I would re-test to make sure.
I am so glad you asked that question! I've had the same one and can't believe I haven't already posted it on here. My FSH was 14 last January and I conceived in April. I thought FSH was an indicator of egg quality so that chances of healthy baby could be worse. Hopefully someone else will know. Otherwise I'm asking my dr. at my u/s on June 26th.
My fsh level was 11.2 and my doctor put me on DHEA it is an over the counter medication. I took 50mg a day and bought it from Walgreens for 13 dollors. A month later in May my fsh level was 5.0. I had IUI on May 27th and after 2ww my Hcg level was 1540 on June 10 but on June 12 it is only 1873. They are concerned because of such a high number and that it did not double. But to answer your question most doctors want you fsh level to be under 10 beause you will have a better quality egg. I hoped that helps. The higher the number the harder it is to get pregnant. Less than 10 is good, 10-14 is boarderline and anything above 14 high. But this number may very from lab to lab but this is what my doctor explanined to me.
Im 51 and a half just had my FSH level tested at 15.6 not sure what that means... is that high or low? would ya think I could get pregnant.. I went to the sterilization class and My Doc said I don't need that because its Highly unlikely I would get pregnant at my age.. well I don't believer her .. Im telling ya If I get pregnant now may as well put me in a mental hospital !
