I am very sorry to hear that you are going through this. While the bed rest can seem daunting, I firmly believe that it works! I have no experience with Pre-eclampsia however as a mother of two with both pregnancies being after I was 35, I had complete placenta previa in my second pregnancy. My first heavy bleed came at 26 weeks at which time I put on bed rest. I suffered through loss of my father one week into my bed rest while I was still grieving the loss of my mother just 8 months prior. With the exception of getting special Dr. permission for funeral arrangements etc. I followed the doctors orders to a tee and managed to keep my DD, Riley,  inside until 34 weeks at which time she was born by emergency C-section due to my 3rd very heavy bleed. She was born at a very strong 4 1/2 lbs and spent only 1 week in the NICU! Today she is 6 months old and doing very well:-)

adgal is very right...Medicine has made very incredible advancements in this area although I know that knowing that doesn't stop the worrying.

As hard as it may seem sometimes, try to stay positive! We are thinking of you...good luck with your journey!

I also can't offer advice from direct experience, but it's amazing how well preemies do these days.  Medicine has made incredible advancments in this area, and even at 31 weeks, your baby should do just fine.  I hope they are able to keep her in there as along as possible, but as I learned a few weeks ago, great things come in small packages.  The NICU unit where Ryder was had many many preemies, and although they needed a bit of help feeding and time for their lungs to develop, all were doing very well.  Good luck to you!!

I am sorry you are going through this.

I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 9 weeks with my son.  I was sent to a specialist who tried to convince me to abort, but for me it was not an option.  I was on FULL bedrest for 26 weeks and had my son at 35 weeks when labor could not be stopped (my 3rd time in pre-term labor).  I would take a bath once a day in which my husband would draw the bath and then carry me in.  Peeing consisted of me crawling on the floor because standing up made me want to faint.

Before and after that pregnancy I have never had BP problems again at all.

I hope you have a GREAT support system.  My husband was the BEST.  Daily he would pack a cooler with snacks and drinks for me and put it on the bed next to me.  He was constantly renting movies and I lived on the laptop watching movies, learned how to quilt, and much more.  I just made it a point to keep myself distracted as much as I could.  The important thing is to relax at all cost, don't get up unless you HAVE to.

Hi, so sorry you''re in that position at this stage of your pregnancy. I have my fingers crossed that you can stay well enough for your bubs to be in there as long as possible.
I developed severe pre-eclampsia very late, and quite suddenly in my last pregnancy. I was on drips to lower my bp and had magnesium sulphate to prevent seizures. Thankfully it really only effected my labour and 2 days after. I'm currently pg with 2nd and so far so good no PE but ob is doing a lot of testing!
Good luck. Stay in bed. Watch a lot of tv and try to relax. I hope bubs can stay where she is for a few more weeks.

Just wanted to say good luck, I had issues with my bp during my pregnancy and it can be very stressful - thankfully mine never got to the point of bedrest, just take one day at a time and every day you keep your baby in there is just that much better!
