joining you all

Hi,

I am 40 today.  Yesterday I did a HPT (DPO15) and there was a faint positive.  THen I tested twice more, once with the same brand and then with another brand, with same result.

I'd been trying for about 15 months naturally and then assisted.  That was my third IUI, but 1st month with Femara. The first two cycles used clomid. Found Femara so much nicer to use than clomid.... no side effects.  The Second cycle I had early miscarriage.  Hope this is a sticky one.

I had been so sad that I wouldn't get pregnant before turning 40, but now it looks like it's happened.  What a birthday gift!  My darling daughter will have a brother or sister.

It will be a complicated pregnancy (diabetes, hypothyroid and adhesions from abdominal surgery for appendicitis during my last pregnancy), and I am excited and scared.... but oh so hopeful!

Letting you all know there is hope!

Congratulations.  I am a 43 year old women that just gave birth to a 8lb 7 oz baby who is now 7 weeks old today.  What a blessing he is to our household.  To all those ttc remain positive and try not to stress too much and you will be amazed at the outcome. My delivery was vaginal, and full term.  We have to continue to share our GREAT news so that others may be encouraged.

That is high blood pressure. Did they check it more than once? I'm not sure exactly what numbers put you in that category during pregnancy, but for non pg it's around 140/85. There are some safe blood pressure meds during pg-high blood pressure is never safe pg or not. It frequently has no symptoms, but it can be deadly left untreated. I'm sure your dr took your pg into consideration when choosing meds but you can always ask if it will make you feel better. Congrats and SSBD to you!!

What is considered high blood pressure I am 4 weeks preg and had my blood pressure done yesterday and what I saw was 152/125 so she put me on medication. I am 41 and have 4 children already, and I have never had high blood pressure at the beginning of a pregnancy, unless I had it way before I was preg. Is it safe to take these medications?

Yay! That is awesome news! Congratulations and happy birthday! I was 40 when had + HPT, now 41 and 25 weeks with baby boy. So far no complications. My normally high blood pressure has been just fine this whole pregnancy (and no meds!) and my level 2 ultrasound was great. I also have adhesions from colon surgery, and my last pregnancy had no problems from that, and so far neither has this one. Not even any pain. The MFM said pain with growing uterus would/could be the big problem with the adhesions, not really any other problems to anticipate from that. Best wishes and sticky baby dust!!!

Hi, congrats to you.  I am also 40 and pregnant, though I am due late April (most likely a May baby because I always carry 2 weeks over).  My pregnancy was not planned and I have mixed feelings.  But I am here, and am trusting the Lord and relying on helpful folks on here to help me out in the encouragement area.  My health is not comprismised except for high blood pressure. But I have had this with all of my pregnancies.  God bless you and I wish you the best!

bHCG today is 327.5 miu/ml.  I think this is excellent for 18 days post IUI (4 days post missed period).  Yippee!  This looks like a keeper.

Hi Hon,

thanks for your words.  Don't give up on the sibling for your daughter.  40 is not old to be having a second baby these days.... even 41 or 43.

Don't worry about the age thing.  The risks are far overrated.  I beleive that miscarriages are nature's way of making sure we get a perfect baby... so don't give up yet.

I have a friend who is 46.  She's trying for her 4th baby now.  My aunt also had her last baby well into her 40s (she had 13 children - 12 living).....

Hugs.  There is nothing else to be but positive. :)

Wow.  Congratulations!  So happy for you.  I'll turn 40 next week, too.  My husband and I also have been trying for a sibling for big sis.  Sadly, we just went through a miscarriage, and I've been really second guessing trying again. I think I have simply worried myself so much with all the reading I have done about increased risks with age.  I love that you are full of hope, and willing to accept the challenges!  I wish you all the best!
