How are you doing? I am also 16 weeks, I had 2 very scary bleeds in week 10, both took me to A&E. Brown blood the first time that stopped the same day and then was dry brown flakes, so, old blood confirmed. The second, full on bright red with clots bleed that within 3 hours turned to brown and stopped with those brown flake. Sonographer for first time and doctor for second bleed who confirmed all old blood. Bleeding is unexplained.

Scans all pointed that all was ok, and a 16 week scan yesterday also shows ok, so, doctor is the best bet. I also have fibroids.  Yesterday, we learned my placenta is sitting on top of a fibroid, doctor not worried, but at 16 weeks, put me on aspirin and more frequent later term growth scans to make sure the fibroid isn't taking nutrients. All the best to you!!

The most common cause of bleeding during pregnancy is an implantation bleed. Often times it is brown blood because it is "old." Vast majority of the time, it will either bleed out or it will absorb in the body with no effect on baby. However, anytime you bleed you want to contact your doc as they will probably do a sonogram to verify baby is safe and sound :)
