Mine is always elevated between 110-125 and the cardiologiest said that it was due to the extra blood flow and that it wasn't something to panic about....He even did an EKG and looked for murmurs and nothing...
I hate the way it feels but it hasn't been down around 80-90 since I got pregnant ;-(  I can't wait for this symptom to go away!

Let me know if your dr. says something otherwise.

HI there,
I think 140 is a bit high...I'd suggest a call to the doc. My resting heart rate b4 pregnancy is ~60 bpm and in pregnancy ~70. Now I'm lower than avg and have lower bp but your resting is twice what mine is. In my humble opinion you should absolutely get it checked...better to have it checked and be fine than to not have it checked and NOT be fine...ya know?

If your symptoms have been constant for 4 days with no let up, you need to see the doctor.

humm I just might call again to make sure it's ok....I know they told me with twins it's double working hard than a woman with 1 baby.  So who knows.....I still would rather be safe than sorry.

BTW - according to this site, a pregnant mom's heart rate will increase from about 70 to about 80-90....

so i'm thinking over 100 isn't normal.

http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec22/ch257/ch257d.html

"Heart and Blood Flow:  During pregnancy, the woman's heart must work harder because as the fetus grows, the heart must pump more blood to the uterus. By the end of pregnancy, the uterus is receiving one fifth of the woman's prepregnancy blood supply. During pregnancy, the amount of blood pumped by the heart (cardiac output) increases by 30 to 50%. As cardiac output increases, the heart rate at rest speeds up from a normal prepregnancy rate of about 70 beats per minute to 80 or 90 beats per minute. During exercise, cardiac output and heart rate increase more when a woman is pregnant than when she is not. During labor, cardiac output increases by an additional 10%. After delivery, cardiac output decreases rapidly at first, then more slowly. It returns to the prepregnancy level about 6 weeks after delivery."

Mine will race at about 100-110 for about 20-30 minutes probably twice a day.  I think that 140, all day for a few days is kind of high.  If it's making you nervous or you're concerned, I would call and ask to see your doctor.  Try not to get nervous about it.  I know, that's not easy to do, but it will only make it worse.

mine was racing bet. 130-158 a few weekends ago when i was in the er...chills, tremmors...

ihad a kidney infection.  they told me my bp and pulse were up because my body was fighting the infection.

do you feel sick at all, like your body is fighting something off?

after they started me on iv antibiotics...about 1 1/2 days into it my pulse lowered to a still high-but more normal 120...

now that i'm done with my antibiotics my pulse is 76.

Please try not to panic.. it only makes its worse!

I have had this for a long time, mine would do this as well prior to pg due to anxiety!
Try bearing down.. meaning take a half breath hold it and bear down as you would in childbirth or a bowel movement hold it for 10 seconds and let it out slowy! do that several times that usually works pretty godd for a tachryacardia run.. I have had so much dealings with these and it works for me.  Have you uped your water intake, make it cold to cool  your body  temp down. 140 is what the books say to not go above during exercise just  due to getting the body temp up. Mine was that when I was in t he ER for spotting and they were not worried it would come down to 130, then 120 , it was 115 at the triage nurse during getting checked in !

I get what you have almost every morning especially after I eat, please dont freak out it only makes it worse!!!! I know how scary it is. If your shortness of breath continues just let your doc know I would call, but try the others things I mentioned! You are problaly staying high due to the panic of it, which is like cause and effect! you get scared heart rate elevates even higher and then the cany breath effect and numbness sometimes can kick in! You will be fine, again try the bearing down!!!! good luck , dont panic!

Hi Brown Eyed Gurl. I've been following your story and am soooo happy for you.  You're having a boy and a girl and that's a double miracle. Yesterday, I read on a different post about a lady whose baby heart stopped beating at 8w3d.  Yesterday, I was exactly 8w3d and though I felt sadness for her, fear of loosing my pregnancy dominated my thoughts.  The next thing I knew, I was searching the internet for heart monitors to rent.  Your friend has just gone through a very dramatic miscarriage and she was the same number of weeks as you. It's natural for you to have fear now and I agree that the best thing to calm that fear is to see your doctor.  Praying for a healthy pregnancy.

An occasional racing heart is normal during pregnancy, but you sound rather concerned. I think you'll feel better to have your doctor check you out, especially since it's Friday and a doctor appointment might be better today than waiting until the weekend and having to visit the ER instead, if your doctor's office does not have on-call/after hours services. Best wishes.

call your doctor if you are uncomfortable. but the bottom line is, your  heart is working harder, everything, all your organs are pushed up including your diaphragm which is your muscle you use to breathe, your blood supply is larger now that your further along, which means your heart is working harder to move that blood!!!

It's been like this for 4 days all day and night it feels like I've just got done running a mile and my heart is gonna pound out of my chest and just am really breathless.  I know the nurse said it was ok but I just don't at what point is it not.

If it's making it hard to breathe you should probably go to the ER.. tell them to call your doctor. it sounds serious! I wouldn't wait around.
