Not dilated at all

Tuesday i go back to the doctor for a non stress test.
What exactly does that do for me? Because from my understanding it just monitors the babies heartbeat and my contractions if i have any. is it just to see if the babies okay? Plus ill be getting induced that day im assuming?

Why do they wanna startle my baby?

I went in for my last appointment at 40 weeks the Dr swept my membrane that was at 1 pm I was in full labor by midnight

They are making sure babies heartbeat increases 3 times in 20 min. If not, they will try to startle the baby. If that doesn't work they may induce. I went in 3 tines for nst. Had to startle her once.

Im 40 weeks today as well. I got told that my cervix is soft and 1cm dilated. Has your cervix softened? And my dr set up the 6th as my induction date. I think your dr would tell you if you're getting induced so you can be prepared. And sorry I'm not sure what non stress test is
