in labor at 37 & 1

Got to the hospital at 3 am this morning with contractions 2-3 minutes apart went from 0 to 3 dilated and then went to 4 1/2 and the contractions slowly stopped. I was admitted into.the hospital. Now I am stuck and was sent home with contractions that are bothersome. My "student" doctor told me by law she cannot give me Potocin or break.my water due to the mere fact that I am only 37 &1. Has anyone heard of this? I understand that I am not 40 weeks but I cannot take this anymore. Can anyone help or give me advice. I'm emotionally bent. I can wait until baby is ready but its so hard when I have a contraction every 2-3 minutes that are so.painful and.are not.helping my labor.

Doctors and hospitals tend to defend one another.  There was someone else here that had a similar situation as you,  sent home after being dilated.  She ended up going into labor a day later.  Her and the baby ended up with an infection.

With my youngest i was 37 wks... and was having contraxtions like five mins apart...went to the hosp. And was only at 2 cm  so we walked for like four hrs and finally got to four cm. They then admitted me...broke my water and gave me pitocin...he waa born a few hrs later. So thats not true. If u are in active labor they can give it too you

My baby was head down but facing to the right or left....does that make sense....it should be head down facing your back

I also called another hospital in the surrounding area and the nurse said there is too much to risk legally that the doc would.have never sent me home if there was a risk with my baby and his deaccelrating heart rate with every contraction. So who.knows.....

I was told that if I dilate to 3 cm or more,  I'm having the baby.  If they sent you home being dilated 4 1/2 cm,  the chances of you getting an infection are high.  I agree with rest,  go to a different hospital.

Thank you for the response. Ennya0301 when I had gotten to tgw hospital the nurse gave me an ultrasound and baby's head was down but not engaged. Unless he is huge I can't tell if he is head down. I've never had that problem. How do I know if he is head down? Because I can feel him on both sides of my belly including lower stomach area. Im waiting to see if the contractions start up again. Also I was concerned because everytime I had a contractions the babies heart rate would decelerate. And she also.diagnosed me with mild pre-clampsyia so my question is why would they allow me to go home. I'm worried about the baby. And about his heartrate. And aabout my blood pressure.

Sorry you went through that. I found different hospitals have different rules at least in my area. Stalled labor stinks. Been going through it the past 2 weeks. Didn't make it to 4 1/2 though.  While its an emotional strain, rest while you can.  Little one just wasn't ready yet.

I went into labor at 37 weeks with my last one...I'll make this a short story....got to the hospital and I was already at 8 cm ....my contractions were painful but not too much....then they started to slow down ....they even broke my water but nothing happened....my doctor was just going to stand there and wait...lucky for me I had experienced nurse and she ordered everyone to grab the sheet I was lieing on and they rolled me on one side then the other...immediately I felt pressure and urge to push.....It turns out the baby was head down but sideways and wasn't engaging. ...I didn't know that can stop your contractions but it did
