Chemical induction isn't so bad..they will most likely use pitocin to start your contractions after they break your water..if it hasn't broken already. They started mine at 8:30.am..was breathing through most of them till about 11ish and then got the epidural..had my beautiful baby boy at 4pm. I have no idea what natural child birth feels like. I opted for the epidural and was able to smile and laugh and enjoy every minute of the labor process:) im having a membrane sweep at 10am to try and get things moving with this third baby. Wish me luck and blessings to you:)

Not true. It just brings on the labor. It didn't feel any worst than my first who came on his own. Pain is pain. Its going to hurt regardless. It was actually easier but then again that was my second baby. I was induced with pitocin. Your body already makes pitocin. Its better to use it.The other one is suppose to bring on the labor faster. There's a third choice but I dont remember it off the top of my head. Lets just say my second baby came in 8 hrs. Pushed once. My first was 21 hrs and pushed for 3 hrs. I dont have to tell ya which was easier on me lol.

So funny @nearlymumof3 I have the complete opposite almost to a T. Induced with first stage four epesiotomy forceps and 34 hours. Second natural labor for about 10 hours and 3 pushes. It all just depends on how ready your body is and how it reacts to the meds. Dont stress...either way it ends with a baby in your arms. Wishing you an easy induction and delivery. Good luck!

Not true at all! My first natural labour was 33hrs, very painful, ended in forceps delivery, an episiotomy, and just exhausting. My second was induced, only 12hrs, 7mins of pushing (3 pushes total), completely relaxed, no cuts or tears. SO much better than my natural labour. Can't wait to be induced Friday, I know it'll be so much better than natural.

Which drug are they using to start your induction. They used cytotek for mine which is a pill that is inserted into the cervix. It softens the cervix as well as starts the contractions. This drug isn't that bad.
The other option would be pitocin. The nurses at the hospital told me that they hoped the cytotek would work because the pitocin is twice as bad as a normal labor.
