OK, here's an embarrassing one...

Hi Ladies:

How the heck can you keep your, um, bikini line well groomed when your belly is sticking so far out you can't see it?  With my last preg, I gave in and sported a hip-to-hip.  I'd rather not with this preg but shaving down south is starting to be a challenge.

There is no way I'm getting one of those wax jobs.

Thanks!

Too funny, I've doing the natural thing, it's to the point that I could put some braids in:)  I've asked my partner to get his clippers and trim me cause it's driving me crzy!  Before the pregnenacy I was cleaned (waxed) but I'm not brave enough to do it now especially with the extra blood flow down to our area.  I'm considering however about having a wax done a few weeks b4 my due date but you know what I like the jungle idea for the Doctor, let her earn her paycheck this time by macheting her way through!

Mel - a stop watch in one hand and a razor in the other and me with a mirror, giving directions.... hahaha.  now that is a funny visual.

Tgirl - I googled "what they don't tell you about labor" and there are all kinds of hits that came up.  Some funny and some a little scary.  Either way, it gives me something to read for the next couple of hours. :)  Thanks!!

I'm not trying to sell any particular way about it, I'm sharing what I've learned from others.. I'm on bed rest these days and not even wearing make up much less shaving parts I can't even see.. :)

I did make a deal with DH tho. Once I go into labor he has to give me a trim before we go to the hospital. I'm a little worried tho.  His idea of a trim, is a lot different than mine.  All this talk has got me selfconscious... Actually I'm more worried about them noticing some of my other not so glamorous preggo things.. unfortunately I can't do anything about those..  :)

So thanks for the update on the trends.  But I really don't get it?  Is it for fashion, or hygeine??  Or just because it is the way of the new generation -- to decorate/manipulate the body so much with jewelry, and tattoos, etc?
In reality, it is very contrary to health and hygeine.  There is one great reason for the hair that is there; it creates another barrier to protect the skin and other parts down south.  When the skin is left unprotected, and perhaps, abraided, it is more likely that diseases are easily transmitted -- diseases like herpes, which is caused by skin to skin contact only.  I know we are mostly married and monogamous, but what about all the young girls out there livin' it up?   Does anyone tell them of the risks?

I have a friend that got waxed a couple of times.  She said it was very embarrassing, and like you said brown eyed gurl, they don't miss a spot (front to back).  She said the thing about it is, you have to let it grow out pretty far before you go back in so it looks great at first but then you have to go through a lot of not so good stages before you go back to get it done again.

This is a pretty funny conversation but an interesting one too!!

the effect would be nice no shaving for a long time but yeah the thought of someone doing it creeps me out....that's why I never have.....and they even spread your booty cheek to do it.....freaky

LOL.  You guys crack me up.

A friend of mine withnessed a guy with a waxed set of nuts recently.  DH even gave himself a trim one time but his "guy muff" cracked me up so much he never did it again!

I will never get a Brazillian, although the effect would be pretty cool.  I just don't like the thought of someone else doing the job for me...

Oh yeah, things are way different from the 70s, 80s and even the 90s. These day you don't only trim the stuff that would stick out off your bathing suit, you completely shave off a lot of it and trim what is left really short. This generation is all about trimming body and facial hair. Even the guys do it.

Me, I haven't quite caught up with it all.. but i try not to be too far behind.  I'm probably stuck in the late 90s somewhere.

I'm glad you spoke up because I was thinking the same thing!  I'm not preggo yet, but I only shave down south in the summer if/when I'm wearing a bikini, otherwise I just go au natural.  I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me for not keeping a regular trim down south.  Glad to hear I'm not the only one.  Never had any complaints about it yet.  Incidentally, I'm in your generation.  (-:

OK, now I'm feeling generations older than all you!  When did all this "trimming down south" come into vogue?  I admit I was a little naive growing up, but I couldn't have missed all this??  I remember trying to shave along my thighs once, so I could wear a hipster bikini, and it itched so bad for 3 weeks after, that I never tried again.  Now I wear the short-style swimsuits.  So....if I'm going to be bearing all-- spreading em" (hopefully) for some OB team, I don't want them to be standing there mouths agape, horror-stricken, when I need them to be working!  Tell me more about what to do for this new generation...  Cuz' my DH is the same age as me, and he never mentioned my natural dark fuzziness was irregular...

Oh brother - about the being able to reach - I hear ya Patty!!!  There is nothing like having to practically remove your pants all together while in the bathroom stall at the mall just so you can reach with the TP after going potty!!  At least the razor itself gives me a couple extra inches while attempting to shave!  And I have now resorted to only shaving my legs while sitting down in the bath - balancing on one leg is WAY too dangerous these days!!  Hopefully this will all change tomorrow for me!!  Yippee!!!!!

get a wax!  it is not that bad and you'll feel so much better about your looks knowing everything is trimmed up down there.  Plus it is so much cooler without all that hair growing that you'll feel (and be) cleaner!  The pain of waxing is over in a matter of seconds!  And waxers are so professional and have definitely seen it all so they will not be freaked out at all by the big beautiful belly your a sporting!  Go for it!!
