Yes! I had c diff my first pregnancy. I ended up with it through the entire pregnancy. I'm happy to answer any questions. I went through many 2 week rounds of vanco but it just kept returning. After being referred to a gi specialist and then an infectious disease expert, I ended up on a low dose of liquid vanco plus specific probiotics for the duration of my pregnancy just to keep it controlled. The liquid vanco is tons cheaper, around $60 for the standard 2 week treatment. I used florastor twice a day and udos choice adult probiotic twice daily. I had no other complications with the pregnancy and gave birth to a perfect little girl. Afterwards I still couldn't kick the infection, so I pushed hard for a fecal transplant. It took a few months, but they finally did it. I so wish they'd have agreed to do it during my pregnancy. It worked great. Let me know if you have questions. It sucked having c diff fora year, but everything was good for baby.
Thank you so much. Things appear to be getting much better and all I have to say is thank goodness for my wonderful husband. Without him taking care of me and baby, I'm not sure we could have done it. And yes, the control/clean up process has been on-going. Thankfully my husband did an amazing job of keeping things sanitized and he he did not contract it.
No personal experience, sorry, but I feel for you. I work in health care and your infection control/cleanup process at home must be ridiculously complicated. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly and I hope all is well now/no more meds. Good luck mama.
I have been off meds for about a month and things appear to be settling down. Anyone else have this experience?
C-diff is no fun. Make sure you wash your hands frequently and finish all your antibiotics. Best wishes.
