muscle strain!!!!!

Hi everyone, I'm 6+ weeks & I've been suffering with shoulder strain for days now!!! My own fault for refusing to put my heavy shopping bags on the floor of the train during rush hour.. Next day left shoulder was killing me and now virtually no lateral movement, doctor recommended shoulder exercises which have helped but I can barely use my left arm, wrist feels numb and tingly, left shoulder stiff.. last resort is to now use paracetamol which I didn't want to do but the pain is too much, I've not been able to go to the gym and do my usual bodypump classes etc. Has anyone else experienced this?? Please help any advice or insight in to how much longer this will last, I can barely move!

One way to massage the back and shoulder muscles is to get a golf ball or a tennis ball and roll it between your back and a wall.
Ice or hot packs? Take a warm bath?

I hope you get some relief soon.
