Nuchal test is only testing for what is considered a "soft marker".  I am assuming you had some blood work done as well?

The Dr. will take the nuchal measurement, the results of your blood work (they are looking for the ratio between two hormones - Free beta and Papp A), factor in your age and then come up with your babies odds for a trisonomy issue (chromonsomnal abnormality).  None of these tests are diagnostic, they simply determine odds. These tests are simply to help you determine whether further testing is something you wish to do.  In my case, these tests gave my son a 1:13 odds for Down Syndrome.  Based on that I opted for amnio which told us he was completely typical.

No matter your odds, do not let it frighten you.  Again, these are not diagnostic tests, just possible indicators.

Best of luck to you and congrats on your pregnancy.

Anything under 3mm is considered good.  My daughter measured 1.8mm and she's healthy as they come good luck.
