ovulation test strips detecting pregnancy

Ive read you can detect a pregnancy ufing ovulation tests. Well since the 23 rd I've been peeing on them and every other day there after and each time the test positive line got darker and today not fmu it was as dark as the control line. Is this a good indicator that my hcg levels are increasing?

I was actually testing for pregnancy.  I grabbed the wrong test out of the medicine cabinet.  After the test line on the OPK came back darker than the control line I knew that I was pregnant just had to confirm it with the HPT the next day.

I've heard it doesn't work all of the time though for everyone.  I know I grabbed the OPK instead of the HPT and it came out positive.  I took the HPT the next morning and it too came out positive.

well, my blood results on day 22 showed low hornoes level and that i couldnt have ovulated... so whats with that! anyway, i have to have the test repeated next time i am due to ovulate....i am getting really confused to when! my GP want to consider giving me clomid HURRAAHHH if they are still low or non existant.  so i dont know if i did the test wrong or what but i definately saw the lines!! mmmm.

i want to start it now .
anyhow. i also have very low iron(5) and ferritin levels. so i am popping these like there going out of fashion. i feel like the living dead at the moment. my brain isnt functioning i am forgetting what i was doing or who i was ringing all the time. durrr! must look really stupid at work.

Also, I tried using the OPKs last month or the month before, and I got two lines. Since I felt awful, I thought for sure I was pregnant and I wasn't.

So, it's not a done deal when someone gets a positive reading on an OPK!

The thing that I have read about the OPK's is that since they measure both LH and HCG, it can give a positive result after ovulation because it is still detecting some levels of LH.  Since HPTs only detect HCG, they are a more reliable source...

(BTW, could there be any MORE acronyms??? LOL)

Hi, I am still getting dark lines on my ovulations strips and I am 20 dpo. How many dpo are you? I would go get Clearblue preg test and even if a faint line appears.. you're pregnant. Let us know!!!

hi there ladies,
well thats odd as i was wandering the same thing for myself. i thought i had read the strips wrong and got confused. i havnt heard this theory before. i have been having sex since the 27 th may. my test showed 2 dark lines. i did it again 2 days ago and sure enough 2 very dark lines. then today the test strip was lighter but still two lines. i have vomited on the last 2 days . i havnt got gastro!
i have been terribly tearfull and stroppy at work this week . my mood is all over the place.
i had a miscarriage in november and am so wanting a baby.
could i be pregnant already?????

I have heard this as well, and checked it out.  I have had both results...positive and negative while pregnant.  I typically use the ClearBlue digital, so there is no interpreting how dark the line is, it comes up positive or negative period.  I don't think it has anything to do with HCG levels though, as it tests for LH, not HCG.  I wish you would go get that Beta/HCG done...dying to know your numbers girl!!!!

Interesting...I wonder why some people get a positive, and others don't? How far along are you?

I've heard the same thing...but my own experience was that the opk didn't come out positive when I was pregnant. (I was curious, so tried it a few times when I knew I was already pregnant.) If you're not sure if you're pregnant, why don't you just take a regular pg test?
