pregnancy after miscarriage

I had a miscarriage in July. I had bleeding for about 7 days like a regular period . I am not sure if that was considered my first period since it was right after the day of the miscarriage. I haven't had a period in almost three months and have been having ups . I took a pregnancy test and it came back positive . I was wondering how would i know if I just don't have left over hormones from the miscarriage and if thats whats causing the positive result.

Hi Lisa,

I miscarried twins in July and had a positive pregnancy test last week, which docs assured me was accurate.

Go to your docs for confirmation and peace of mind....good luck xx

Ditto to what Basil said.  Some of us had our HCG level return to 0 quickly, but for some it can take awhile.  Especially if you had a natural miscarriage.  I would want an U/S which can tell you if its left over tissue or a new pregnancy.  I sure hope its the latter!!  Let us know and best of luck to you!!

lisa,
did your hcg drop down to zero after m/c .. did your dr monitor that.. i would say if he did and you are positive then you are pregnant.. but if he didnt its hard to say.. but best of luck to you..

I had a miscarriage in February and the nurse told me that you are most fertile and can become pregnant after the miscarriage and while waiting for your period. So if you had intercourse from then til now you can be pregnant.  The days that you bled after the miscarriage, more than likely was from the miscarriage and not your period.  I'm not sure how long the hormones last, but my period didn't start until about 2 1/2 months after my miscarriage and about 5 weeks of waiting, I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I am pregnant now, but at 5 weeks there was no detection of the hcg hormone and when I miscarried I was 15 weeks.  So my guess would be that you are more than likely pregnant and you should follow up with your doctor.  Good Luck and much baby dust sent your way!!
