My baby is two weeks old. I had epidural at 5 cm ... The pain was too intense and i felt the urge to yell at everyone in the room with me because it was making me miserable . After i got it i felt sooo good, it was such a relief  because my contractions were not consisent it just came constantly .it didnt slow down my dialating i went from 5 cm to 8 cm in less than an hour but i stood at 8 for a while. Im still healing so i do get some back pain when im bent over for too long. Everybody is different but honestly idk how i coulda done it without the epidural and i have a pretty good tolerance for pain... My.labor went pretty smoothly. Good luck!

I had a positive experience with epidural.  It allowed me to relax and enjoy l/d experience. Anesthesiologist was amazing..patient and calmed me down.  Dosage was decreased as I got closer so I was still able to feel pressure to bear down. Not sure what ill do this pregnancy but will probably get epidural again.

I had two with the epidural and am having my third baby this October. I agree that you should wait and see how you handle the pain since everyone has a different tolerance level. One thing I find useful is to turn it down when it's time to push. Feeling the need to "bear down" makes for a faster delivery. But I prefer to get to that point with less pain. Good luck! $

I had 4 natural and 1 with epidural but it slowed down my labor and also had bad backaches for a while, with this pregnancy I want to go natural again.

You don't have to decide now. Wait to see how you feel during labor, you may change your mind depending on how intense the pain is.

I've had one baby with an epidural and one without. I hated it. I didn't like not being able to move, i felt like i wasnt in control of my own body and it slowed down my labour.

With modern medicine there is no reason to put yourself through such pain. Get the epidural and enjoy labor and delivery, it's amazing and wonderful! I'm 9 days post partum so it's all fresh on my mind :) Good luck!

I can't even imagine what I have done without it. I almost passed out when everything was over even without feeling much pain at all, what if I went through each contraction feeling the pain, gosh, idk.  My friend tried to do it without and finally gave up and asked for it, then she could relax and not too go through constant pain and gave birth very soon after. I think if it's available to us why not too use it, bete to save energy for meeting your baby and sending time with him after.
