progesterone supp question

Hi ladies,

i had 2 MC's in 5 months in 10/07 & 2/08.  I have been seeing the fertility doctor for the past month and having all the pregnancy loss testing done, low and behold, everything was normal.  just to be on the safe side, the doctor is starting me on progesterone suppopotories and baby aspirin.  I just don't know how to tell when my LH surge is to start them.

I had my last period starting on 4/13.  i usually have 28 day cycles.

coudl anyone let me know how i know when to start them?

I had 2 m/c's as well in 5months, 9/07 & 1/08, and was prescribed Prometrium. My LMP was 4/5, and thanks to a happy face, I knew I ovulated on the 4/16. My DH & I did the BD on Mon 4/14 & 4/16, so I'm praying to get a BFP in 6days! :) My OB told me to start the OPT's on CD10 & on, till I got a surge. Then 3DPO I started progesterone, which I am now on 8DPO, and going crazy thru this 2WW!

Be ready for messy pills that you have to stick up there! LOL

If you were told to start progesterone when you get your LH surge, then yes, that is correct.  The ovulation kit tells you are are having your surge.  I know its difficult, but you will get through it. I just keep telling myself that when I am holding that beautiful baby, everything I have done to get there will have been worth it 100 times over.  Stay focused on that goal, and it will help.    You will also find that that this forum is a really great place for support and encouragement.  I started coming here when things weren't looking very positive for my pregnancy.  I was so scared and felt so alone, and they really helped get me through it.  I have been coming back ever since, through my second m/c and now as I ttc again.  Not only do you get really good advice, many of them have been where we are, and are now almost ready to deliver, or have delivered.  I am sure you will have the same experience.

so when i get the smiley face i start the progestrone supps?  it say i have to start when i get my LH surge,

this is so difficult.  i wish i did not have to go through this but i guess many of us do.

i also just got back from have all 4 wisdom teeth out so i am not looking forward to Vajay jay suppositories and a sore mouth all at once. haha

Yep, thats the one I use.  The smiley faces are so much easier to read then the the one with the lines.  At least I think so.  Start testing on day 11, and when you get a "happy face", you know you most likely will ovulate between 12 and 48 hours.  I think they are the best invention since sliced bread, I swear by them.  Good luck, I hope everything goes smoothly for you, and happens quickly!!

I too have had 2 m/c in just a few months time.  Like carp I use an ovulation kit, and as I am typically on a 28 day cycle, so I start testing for my LH surge on day 11.  The one recomendation I would make when buying an ovulation kit, is to get a decent one.  I use the clear blue easy digital ovulation kit.  Its a little pricier, but has worked extremely well for me.  I am also just getting started on progesterone, so I am not sure about the stopping/starting times yet either.  I would check with your Dr. on that.

so now when i ake the progesterone, if i get my period, i stop taking them til the next LH surge?

I am in the same boat as you....I had 2 miscarriages.  I used an ovulation kit and when it said I was fertile I started taking the progestrone and had sex every other day.  And it worked.  Ive taken Progestrone and baby aspirin every day since. I am 8 wks this is the furthest Ive been in a pregnancy.  All my blood work is great and the sonograms show a healthy sack and "bean" growning with a strong heartbeat.
