rising hcg levels lowering progesterone levels

Hi there:

Help!  My HCG levels keep rising accordingly but progesterone levels keep decreasing.   My results are as follows:

9d5dt:  beta 179, progesterone 26
12d5dt:  beta 740, progesterone 18
14d5dt:  beta 1789, progesterone 10

This is my first pregnancy and I'm worried about possible miscarriage.  I am on a ton of progesterone supplements:  estrace 2x vaginally, endometrin 3x vaginally, PIO shot 1x.  After 2nd beta results, my RE changed me from endometrin to prometrin 2x orally.  After today's 3rd beta, my RE added another PIO shot.  Has anyone had any of this?  Any advice would be great!

if you are worried about the progesterone levels MAKE THEM give you a prescription for Crinone (Natural Progesterone).... Dont NOT wait...its your baby. Go with your gut feeling.

Everyone:

Big thanks for calming me down!  I am hoping that between the prometrium and the extra PIO shot, the levels will at least stablize (or maybe even increase!)

Hey...just wanted to add that when using vaginal progesterone, the blood levels are not always accurate, since the hormones are delivered right where they're needed, without having to go though the blood stream first. So even though your last blood test was a bit low, it might be much higher down by your uterus. I was on vaginal and oral progesterone after my IVF, and my RE didn't even check my progesterone numbers...I believe for that exact reason.

Best of luck with everything and congrats on your pregnancy!

Congrats on your pregnancy.  Your beta numbers do look great, and my understanding is that that is the important one. I know the progesterone no's are a bit of a concern, but hopefully the supplements kick in and they start to rise as well.  Hang in there, and I hope it's a great outcome!

I think you're doing all you can do - your re sounds like he/she's being very pro-active in getting your progesterone numbers up.  Did you do a IVF or IUI?

Those PIO shots are not fun - bless your heart for having to take another PIO shot.  Your beta numbers look really, really good.  Hopefully your progesterone shots/suppositories will get their numbers up as well.  Congrats on your pregnancy! - jen
