Can I successfully fall pregnant at 42

I am 42 years old and stopped taking the pill 8 months ago to try to conceive. My partner is 10 years younger than me, I already have an 18 year old son and was wondering what are my chances of falling pregnant and how long does it take for the pill to be completely out of my sytems?

I've been on the pill for 7 years, stopped pill June 2007 and just conceived March 14, 2008.  I went on My monthly cycle from the computer and it said my cycles were 30 days.  They said my predicted ovulation was March 14, so every other day from March 7 -16 we did it and it paid off.  previous months weren't doing it very often.  Try this website and it will tell you your cycles, but you have to enter a few of them at first to get it going.  Don't worry, it is possible, just may take time

Hi

I am having regular periods and always have even when i was on the pill. I have been checking fertility dates on a website Askdramy. I have been taking folic acid too to help me along the way.

Have you been having regular periods since getting off the pill?  Also, are you tracking your ovulation?  Sadly, fertility drops sharply at 42 but pregnancy definitely is possible.  My re (reproductive endocrinologist) had a baby at 43 plus there are other women here on the forum who are pg and are 42+.  The problem w/women in their 40's is egg quality & sometimes it takes longer to get that 'magic' egg.  Good luck!

you can definatly have a baby at 42..i am trying at 39..it would probably take atleast a month to get the pill out of your system..have you had normal regular periods?  go to fertilityfriend.com and start tracking you fertility there and it has alot of different sections that will help you pinpoint ovulation and the best time to have sex to try and conceive
