Not painful at all. I had alil cramping after with alil bleeding but only for a day.  Its very easy. I couldnt have sex but some doctors think its ok. Its up to your doctor.  I think u have more of a chance to get an infection

I'm 39 and on my 4th pregnancy with my 4th cerclage. If it wasnt for my cerclages I wouldnt have carried my babies full term. This time around my cervix is flimsy due to all my cerclages I had to have. Im on bedrest right now 29 weeks doing good. My cervix did shorten alil thats why im on bedrest. I almost lost my oldest daughter at 20 weeks bc they didnt know I had a short cervix until my sonogram. Thank god they did an emergency cerclage. Well you can contact me anytime if you have any questions.  Good luck!!!!

Yes they can see your cervix shut if it starts opening. It also depends on where the fetus' placenta attaches itself to the uterine wall. You might be carrying high and if you are then you having a short cervical canal might not matter. I would say let the doctor worry about it, when the time comes. He/she will keep you informed I'm sure and also let you know what needs to be done
