oops , not a "computer UR", but a "complete UR".
Most doctors currently recommend a maximum of 4 c/s (although what happens if you have #5? nothing, just more care needed, more potential complications). I had a complete uterine rupture after 1 c/s (which resulted in c/s #2) and even after a computer UR, my dr said a six month wait was sufficient. (although there were many additional recommendations needed). let your dr. watch over you, don't wait if you ever feel something is not right.
I agree with Super Sally -
The risk would be getting pregnant so close to a c-sx and that the scar might not have healed fully.
I asked my DH when I can safely get pregnant again, and he recommended waiting until 9 months after my c-sx to allow the uterus to heal.
I personally will start trying after 6 months, since it took so long last time and take my chances.
Realistically, the doctors have to tell you the risks so that they are not liable in case something happens. I'm sure the likelihood of complications is very rare yet they do exist.
It is a personal decision that you will have to make. I'm sure with close monitoring, you will be fine!!
kellym... thinking the same thing!
Before making any decisions talk to your DR. Then talk to your husband and make the best decision for yourself and the baby. I do know that you will have to be monitored and it will be recommended that you either make this the last one or give your body a break. But never the less Congrats. I will be praying for you.
Hi,
Please don't terminate your pregnancy, as I can only speak for myself and my experiences I have four boys ages 13, 9, 8 and five all which were born by c- section. As the others has said you should talk with your doctor and since they should have info at least about your past c- section he/she should be able to tell you the best route to go. My doctor told me it would be fine to have 1 more but I would have to have the baby at least two weeks before the EDD, I'm trying for one more hoping that it would be a girl!!!!
Good Luck & God Bless
Hi,
I totally agree with everyone.
Risks are low in a well monitored pregnancy in a healthy mother with good nutrition. If there was any concern, I imagine the most they would do is monitor you closely towards the end of the pregnancy (this is normal practice) and perhaps deliver you a few weeks early, if there was any concern at all.
You want this baby and this baby is already here for a reason. Also the uterus is not under much stress until the last 3 months, by which time you are already 12 months past the previous CS, which should certainly not be a concern.
When you discuss with your doctor, emphasize that you want this baby. I would not even be bringing up the topic of termination. Rather the focus should be on how you can have a safe and healthy pregnancy.
If your doctor did suggest termination (highly unlikely) then you have the right to get a second or even third opinion.
Congratulations on your pregnancy.
I have only had one c-section, so perhaps it's not the same thing. However, when I had my 3 month post partum check up I discussed this with my OB, and she had no issue with me ttc again. Sadly it hasn't happened yet, but she said with proper monitoring it's not really true anymore that multiple c sections are a problem (up to a point of course). Nor are they a problem close together as long as your Dr. is on top of things. Kelly is right..discuss with your Dr., but I highly doubt he/she would recommend termination.
WOAH, WOAH, WOAH, Lets not talk termination... Let's talk to your Dr. In fact, I think things will be just fine. Although my 3rd baby was 13 mo's when I got preggo w/#4, I have 4 kids and my oldest is 4!! My kids were born 19 mo's and 18 mo's apart. My Dr. did inform me though after #3 that 1 more is all he recommended. Like I said, talk to your Dr. No one know's what your birth was like, what your uterus looked like or anything. If your Dr. thought there was reason for concern while he was delivering, I think he would have told you right then like mine did. Congratulations, we love them close, you will too!!
