sleep

No matter how tired or sleepy I am I can't sleep. 38 weeks + 2.....I dread having to go to bed at night because I know I'll toss & turn & not sleep. It's 4 am right now, my eyes are heavy but I won't fall a sleep. Does anyone else have this problem or am I just the only night owl?

Thankfully my baby boy has let me sleep. He doesn't cry & when he falls a sleep, I take advantage & fall a sleep to. I have been able to catch up on all those restless nights I had. Hopefully everyone gets the rest the need after baby is born like I have....GOOD LUCK! BTW, enjoying my son Mathew very much :)

I had an issue with sleep too, My dr told me to take a Benadryl to help me sleep.  It worked really well & he said it was safe to take while preg.  My lil man will be 3 weeks old tomorrow & now I can't sleep for an entirely different reason.  :)

Ctmom37, I have trouble drinking milk but I have tried snacking or even showering before bedtime....nothing really seems to help. It's gotten worse the last couple of days that I have dark circles under my eyes....anyone who sees me tells me I look so tired. To me that's just a nicer way for people to tell me I look like crap lol....I'm in my last days though. Hopefully my Dr. has good news for me since at my last appt. I was dilated to 6 cm....WISH ME LUCK TODAY! :)

There is a lot on my mind right now. But no matter what, even if it's not bedtime I'm always thinking about something. I'm just concerned about not having energy at delivery time because of this. I have a Dr. appt in a couple of hrs, I really need to tell her. I would just hate to take anything while pregnant though.

Have you tried warm milk?  I found a recipe for warm milk with a spoonful of honey and splash of vanilla extract, microwaved for 1.5 minutes can help.  It contains tryptophan and is perfectly safe while pregnant.  Another thing you can try is having a snack right before bed...something with protein, like a piece of toast with peanut butter.  I know discomfort may be a large part of the issue, but I wanted to give you some proactive things you can do.  Also, do you have a body pillow?  I still have a long way to go, but I have found through my pregnancies that a body pillow is simply a must!  Congrats and best wishes as you near the end of your journey.

It happens to me sometimes, not as frequently as it used to when I was teenager though (thank goodness) are you worried about something? Feeling anxious about babies arrival? Maybe you could take advantage of the time and get something done that you've been putting off for a while?
