suggestions

So i got a call back this morning from my doctors office saying that i uave a yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis, so im picking up antibiotics today that i will be taking twice a day for a week. Im 29 wks and 4d and this is the second time i have a yeast infection during this pregnancy, which i didnt even know about until the doctor told me. So i was wondering besides taking anitibiotics, what else can i do to i guess get rid of it or things to keep it from coming back?

I had one when I went to my first prenatal appointment at 11 weeks.  I didn't know that I had one.   Dr told me to get the 7 day OTC cream.  I did it and it completely went away.  I avoid sugar like the plague though. Sugar feeds yeast.

Yeast infection, a bad one at the beginning of all three of my pregnancies.  Hormonal changes can cause them. Keep the lady parts clean and dry and cotton undies and nothing at night and tmi but I personally washed the male bits that went in there each time! I wasn't taking any chances!

Yeast infections are common during pregnancy I had one 4 weeks of pregnancy am 19 weeks now. My doctor gave me antibiotic cream and it went away. Just make sure your keeping clean etc. and don't use perfume soaps that can irritate you also. Good luck and congrats

Cranberry pills help. Also, make sure your partner is not reinfecting you.  Men often don't realize that they can pass yeast infections and vaginosis,  He may need to take an antibiotic too.

Cranberry juice works great too. For detoxing and the antioxidants are good for you and baby.

Try to limit sugar as much as you can.  Other than that it's hard because the hormones make it really easy to get. Good luck!

I can't say anything really works for pregnancy. Besides staying dry down there. The hormonal imbalance can cause yeast infections so you might not be doing anything wrong and nothing might help to prevent.

Probiotics may also be a good idea if your doctor okays it, especially after the course of antibiotics. I was taking then while undergoing fertility treatments on the advice of my doctor, and now that I'm pregnant she said to stay on them, they are beneficial and can help with constipation among others. Just make sure you get one the doc recommends if so, because there is a lot of garbage out there on the supplement shelves.

Your antibiotics will get rid of the bacterial infection but you will still have to treat for the yeast. Sometimes pregnancy hormones make us more prone and makes the yeast a little resistant. Ask your doctor for teraconazole 3 day treatment script. Another thing is, are you or have you been a diabetic or a strong family history of diabetes? That can also make you prone. General suggestions are: Watch your sugar intake, drink lots of water, eat yogurt daily, wash with a perfume free soapp and no oil/moisturizing soaps, cotton undies (hello granny pants, bye bye thongs or silky, sexy undies) and go bare at night, avoid baths, dry thoroughly, try a anti fungal powder (often found in foot care areas- i like Zeasorb) in your groin, change pants whenever activity increases so as to keep dry, wash well after sex.
